I'm not real familiar with your set up, but generally speaking the high Kv motors like your 5400 favor 2S lipo voltages. I'd go with the D gear ratio and a 11X4.7 to start with, work your way up to a 12X6 if things don't get too hot
I run the same setup but I use a "C" gearing on a 10x4.7 and it's great!
I would however caution you on the Rx, those GWS recievers get real glitchy! I'd go with a 555, yes it's a bit heavier, yes it's a bit bigger, but it's not glitch city, or if you can afford one get a Berg.
Definitely stay away from the GWS rcrvr if you plan on flying at an event. I have taken more radio hits and seen more radio hits on the GWS recievers than you can imagine (specifically the R4P). Go with a 555 with the case removed or a Berg. Its a few more bucks, but the difference is less than the cost of a new airframe and a stripped servo or two.......
Here is the setup I use on my slow stik ans my tribute, park 370 (5400kv) on a D drive, CC 10 GWS reciver, 3s1p 2100 thunder power, hitec HS55 servos, 12x6 GWS prop.
The ke is to keep the plane as lite as possible, my Tribute is 12 oz all up, my slow stick is 13 oz, you will have way more power then you will ever need. When I go full throttle upline on my Tribute it shakes the shit out of the tail!!!!!!
