Ive gotten some from Lowes to use on spads.....it works but not sure its quite strong enough for heavy duty use.....Just get 1/8 by 3/4 or so...or maybe an inch.
I wouldn't opt for 2024 -- it's an alloy better suited to machining than bending or other methods of forming. It cracks and fatigues easily when bent.RSands said:McMaster has 7075, but it is pricey. a 12" x 12" @ 1/8" thickness is $36, 12 x 24 is $52.They also have T4 2024 grade material which has better forming characteristics, and an 1/8"x 1" x 6' is $20. The same size of 6061 T6 is $6. www.mcmastercarr.com search for aluminum bar.
