What brand of tape do you use for foamy hinges?
I got some clear Scotch stuff that won't stick...
I cleaned the Depron with alcohol and rubbed it down with my fingernail. It looked good last night but tonight it is coming off.

Mike, a lot of us have gone to floppy disk hinges for that very reason. As far as tape goes, though, the best I've used is 3M Blenderm.
regular old clear packing tape works fine, too. The Blenderm is good stuff.
I am off tape from now on. I have had enough of retaping every time I try to fly. I am using CA hinges and it works great. Plus I know my rudder won't fall off.
You should try that blenderm. Buy it from medical supply places. Really works great. Hinges sound like work.

I've tried the floppy disk hinges, with hinge glue and it works out great. It's pretty easy, and worry free

And the CA hinges are gravy. Just make some slits and a dab of foam safe CA. It looks good and stays on.
I've been using Crystal Clear High Performance packing tape from Lowes. Works pretty well. I also tape both sides of the hinge.
Done the tape route.
Now gonna try the floppy disk thing.
Know what is sickening? I threw away about 1000 5 1/4" OLD floppies that I had. Couldn't use them in any computer any more so I dumped them.............
I use the packing tape from 3M (the thicker one which sticks real good) and also the floppy disk hinges. Like them actually better.

Well............. about 10 of those floppys......... would be a lifetime supply. :D
So you just cut hinges out of the floppy disc? CA them in? Clue me in.

Yah, destroy the housing, and get the "floppy" marterial out. cut hinge marterial to the size you want and glue in with CA

works on 3.5 floppy's too
I just cut along one edge of the disk, and slide the material out. I scuff both sides with 80 grit sandpaper. Then cut the hinges. Cut the slots just like CA hinges. I use medium foam safe CA with a applicator tip. I put the tip in the slot and fill with CA, then slide in the hinge. I let one side set up before I do the other side. I can do 4 slots for an aileron this way with no problem. I've never had a hinge come loose doing it this way. Tom
I make mine 1" x 1/2". You get enough for a whole plane out of one 3 1/2" disk. Be sure to use foam safe CA.
I've used floppy hinges on every foamy since I graduated from the Litestik. They work great, but I'm a little unhappy with the resistance when pushed to 50+ degrees. Tape seems about the same to me in that respect.
I've been thinking about trying some small flat pin-type hinges to get more throw without loading the servos so much and heating up the ESC.

Do you double bevel your surfaces?? I've never noticed any binding...
tyvek is a good floppy substitute ive used it with wood glue, would be better with foam safe ca, just like the ca hinge technique
