I was fortunate to find my coverite iron for $20 at a swap meet. I agree, they're definitely the best!!

I got to looking around and NO ONE makes irons anymore. I can’t find one instock anywhere except one on eBay for almost $100!

What gives?? All covering is still made, gloves and socks and heat guns but no irons.

Picked my coverite iron up at a swap meet for 5$ few years back. I like the fact it has actual temp numbers on it. Take’s the guesswork out going from monokote to microlight. Our local swap meet was week before last and I seen a lot of iron’s for cheap.. People just aren’t into building anymore. Had no idea they were getting hard to find. I’ll keep my eyes open for ya Jake. Wish I had known

I haven’t two irons which is why I haven’t looked to buy one in years. But both have started to show their age while I’ve been repairing a rascal 110.
I could just use a sock but I always hated that. I just never felt Like I could feel the wood underneath while working and I really need to feel that.

I thought about that. I’ll probably try it.
I just threw a couple irons away I was given in a box of stuff back when I moved to the new house. I didn’t figure buying new ones would ever be a problem. It’s crazy what foamies and PNP are doing to our hobby.

Jake....Clean the shoe with solvent then lightly polish it out with some 800 - 1000 grit. The teflon coating actually gets into the metal, its not just the grey coating. My trim irons I polish down to a mirror finish with compound.
Par could you post a picture of one of your irons all polished up?

Here you go..... The pit marks in the coverite shoe was trash in the teflon coating from the factory. You'll note the tabs are cut off the shoe in the trim iron, the extra heat works well when using high temp covering.
