What a sweet day!

We're having a two-day jet meeting here and today (Saturday) I pulled out the Katana P to have a fling after the Jets had finished their stuff.

There were a small number of the general public hanging around and so I did my show-off stuff, consisting mainly of some hovering (and I was really in the groove today so it was good) and my favourite manuver -- the "oops".

To do an "oops" -- which I'm sure must have another name, I climb vertical until I'm a goodly height, then cut the throttle and let the bird fall nose-first in a vertical dive -- pulling out with full up-elevator at a height of about 6-10 feet above the ground -- and trying to make the pull-out a perfect right-angle.

After my little routine I had several members of the crowd come up and say how impressed they were with my split-second timing (ha ha -- it was more good luck than good timing :)

Good to see that they hadn't been too awe-struck by the jets to ignore a good old bit of 3Ding :)

Some days are sweet :)

Others call your "oops" manuver a parachute, or a terminator. You dive straight at the ground and pop it into a harrier at the last minute. If you thin it's cool with a profile you should see someone do a really low one with a 35-40% plane! That really gets the wow factor going!
