Got the lam wing version of the Stix 50 Spl in the air this weekend. I tried the Fat Wing with the 120 ax and a saito 100, both plenty of power. Ended up with the 120 on the nose, its just makes me more giddy
I maidened the lam version with a YS 70 dz, plenty of power, flew really nice at 4# 9oz. I could see that being a great 3d trainer set up. The plan was to try with the 70 and then open up the motor mount for the 120. Plan worked well, 120 is on the nose now, 5# 4oz. I used some lighter servos in the lam wing, and also used a solid ply motor mount instead of the built up like the Fat wing. This allowed the engine to be moved all the way rearward on the Lam wing, bringing the engine and tail servos closer to the center of mass.
Interestingly enough, swapping the piped 120 for either the YS70 or Saito 100, the airframe did not need any drastic changes to get the plane to balance. Moving the smaller motors forward, or moving the battery rearward in the wing was all that was needed. Even though the 120 is heavier, with the pipe running so far back, it is not as big a swing as one might expect.
Im loving the lam wing by the way :drunk: :drunk:
