Weight, OS46FX

Hey guys, what's an OS46FX weigh with one of the one-piece Macs mufflers(black one) on it? Anybody ever weighed one? Or do you know the weight of the muff, they seem very light.

Trying to balance a Sledge, engine swap may be in order.

Hey Jim,

I have both of those at home and can weigh them tonight if you like. I bet if you go to the tower site you can find it all though. FWIW, I used the 46fx and Mac pipe on my first profile (Sledge) and it flew it fine. Plenty of power with APC 11.5 x 4.

My scale is a cheap Weight Watchers thingy, but I'll be happy to weigh them seperate and together if you want me to.

Cheers,
John
I am flying, or rather was, a morris sledge with a 46 fx and the macs pipe. I had no problems at all hovering or anything ( when the motor would run)
about the same as your saito 72 :D really, about 18 oz.
Tower shows the weight of the OS46FX as 13.2 ounces without muffler. They have the Macs one-piece in stock, but don't show a weight for it. I just have some amount of distrust in the 'listed' weights on these websites.

I've got a Saito 72 on it now, and I weighed it at about 17.1 ounces. But I've got two ounces of lead in the tail and it's still a bit nose heavy, so I need to shed some nose weight.

It also does some odd things with the Saito and after talking with Key Key (the Sledge info source) he said all of them he's ever seen with a 4-banger just don't fly as well. So I'm weighing the two stroke options.

This is my first Sledge and I'm trying to see what all the raving is about.

Lot's of setup still to do, but as of now, it's not in the ballpark of my matlok design KatP.
You need a webra .50 man......11.25 oz without the muffler.....I think mines right at 15 oz with the stock muffler. Nice powerful engine.
Dbl post suck...
Triple posts blow..
Betcha you cant say that 3 times fast!!!
As well as I remember, the OS46FX and the Saito 72 are about the same weight when you have mufflers on them.
Jim; I got an fx.40 here and weighed it and the macspipe for my s.t. together. they weighed 15.7 oz. total.

I think the 46 weighs the same as the 40, and the os macpipe is the same weight as the s.t., just drilled different. could be wrong, but I don't think so. the os macpipe fits the t.t. 46 also, and macs makes one that fits the webra 50, also. hope this helps!

Thanks Ron, I've got a 46FX, but only the stock (heavy) muffler. I will take the engine alone (no muff) to work tomorrow to see what it weighs. Looks like I could save a couple of ounces up front for sure.
Jim,

Here is what I came up with on my little POS weight watchers scale:

OS46fx 13 oz.
Stock Muff 3.5 oz.
TTL: 16.5 oz.

Mac: 2 oz.
Engine with Mac 15 oz.

Looks like you stand to lose 1.5 oz. even if my scale is off a little on the totals. Hope this helps.

J.
