Here's the deal.......

Webra 50 stock
12.25 x 3.75 prop
McCoy #9 plug
15% Cool Power

Motor runs great at idle and great at full throttle. Will die at midthrottle.

Any suggestions for fix?

Thanks!

Well I could say something like throw it away and buy an Irvine but I wouldn't do that... :D

Is it getting rich and smoking? or going lean and picking up rpm right before it dies?
I tried mccoy 9 pkugs in my engine when i didnt have an OS 8, biggest mistake, it was a waste of time. I put an OS 8 in and didnt touch the needles, ran pefrect after that.
It's either rich or lean..... :D

My guess is the low end is loading up.. The way to find out is to set the high end to gain a little RPM when it's full throttle and you pinch the fuel line momentarily.

To set the low end, set the throttle a few clicks above idle and pinch the fuel line until something changes. If the rpm comes up... it's rich.. goes down or quits.. it's lean....
Are you using an exhaust diverter? I had a similar problem. Was using the same prop but K & B1L plug, 5% Omega fuel. Got rid of the diverter and re-adjusted my carb. Runs like it should now. Must have had too much back pressure. Good luck.
I'll confirm that Jon on the exhaust diverter... Totally killed the performance.... I haven't had any luck running with a diverter..
No exhaust diverter. Just the stock exhaust.

The motor is probably a little rich. I'll try that and a OS#8.

Thanks for the help.

Damn Paul..........There you go.........Like a laser you went straight to the root of the problem! :p
Webra's like to be a little on the lean side.... Do your final tuning in the air.... Bring it in low for a hover and pull verticle.... If she sputters and coughts... she's too rich on the low end... If you hammer it verticle and it sags... She's too lean on the high end....
Mine was the same way till broke in. As Paul said, they have to run lean. At idle, do the pinch thing. If it comes up more than a couple hundred RPM it's not lean enough. Top should be ran a little leaner than you would on say an OS. Keep working the needles in as it breaks in. They take a little while, but are awesome motors and take some serious abuse. Sooner or later you'll have to put a piece of fuel tubing over the neddle, and you might want to try a K&B 1L (they run a lot better than a #8 in mine).
I just got a webra .50, It totally kicks butt! As long as you dont mind playing with the needles a little bit it runs awsome. Not as much power as my .53 Irvine had but oh so sweet.
why do i feel deja vu :?
Try an Enya #3 plug. Absolutly the best plug to high performance engines.
Ask the heli guys. They spend most of the time around half throtle and this plug never misses a beat.
Just 2 pesos.
This Irvine I picked up is a real horse!! Pulls like pitbull on speed!
However after running it for a few you realize your coated with the seepage out the front bearing. It's not bad, kinda like standing next to a mister, on the good side the oil did soften up my mustache!! :D

Hopefully this winter I'll get it broke down and change the bearings in it so as spring comes around it will be ready to take the place of the Mag Pro 46 on the Burrito(e)...
