We got clambasterd on the ProBro chat the other night for makeing sexual remarks and talking smack to each other in general! :?

Time to get Politically Correct fellas no random insults or sexualy related comment even in Jest!!! by gosh im gonna take names and be the self proclamed chat umm umm name taker!

I thought the whole deal was kinda funny I do appreciate RCGroups for hosting the chat. I suppose it can't be totally open for anything goes, I really don't see why not but? I thought If you wanted to not see some of the crap that usally goes back and forth you could block the users making the obviously horrid soul scarring remarks so that you would not have to subject your eyes to such filthy banter!!!! even tho funny as hell to me!

SO quote from the chat mods " IF YOU WANT TO INSPECT EACH OTHERS ANUSES DO IT SOME WHERE ELSE" I suppose that came from the various CORNHOLE remarks flying around!!

Is this official policy now?
It's pretty much always been RCGroups policy. I think what confuses some of the guys is...the chat is hosted on RCGroups, they make the rules. This forum is evidently not hosted by RCGroups, so RCGroups has no say-so on what goes on here.

They are pretty touchy on RCGroups, extremely more touchy than RCU. I think "heck" and "fiddlesticks" are about the raunchiest language they allow.

It's a double edged sword. Moderated IRC might seem like it's cramping some of the guys style, but until you have experienced the unmitigated hell that IRC can be if left to run amuck, you have not seen bad.

Is it a good kind of unmitigation?

Anyway, I too thought our chat was "no holds barred". I guess we just need to save that for the forums and fly in after-parties. Either that, or we all need to get better with our ProBonics.

I wonder if the Mods would know what a "bone-dogger" is? :D

Guys,

I'm working on a chat system for us now so we don't need to use RCGroups, or anybody else. It will probably be another integrated module to this forum, just like the calendar I added a few months ago.

This brings up an interesting issue. Should it be moderated, or not? Of course, nothing happens without BH signing off on it, but I'm sure if the majority of us vote one way, that will influence what is done.

Call me a prude...but I have been getting a little leary of some of the language...so my vote is for a moderator. I realize, the moderator will be a Bro, so of course, the boundaries are much greater than RCGroups, which is the way it should be....we are'nt all nuns here

I think some moderation would be ok but if its gonna be to the extent you can even talk smack even if includes a few bad words then whats the point? But there need to be some control as if some yahoo joins like Chuck Auger simply to cause trouble they can be shown the door! I also would like it to be limited to registered member on the Probro Site if thats possible.

If its not a free open anything goes just as it is at a probro we might as well post on RCU or just do the conversating smack talkin (whatever you like which is the very point!!!) on this forum!

There is a block user feature avalible to all chatters to block the offensive input so anyone offended buy the souly intended crap slinging 100% in jest I sugest the utilization of this feature!

This fella that started the moderating as for the most part I have only seen him participate in the chat a few times I asumme he was affended by the back and forth attack being made on Staggerbee's sexual preference? again maybe he was trying to uphold the mighty standards of RC groups but I think it was personel as he dropped right in with the above quote and it obviously was not in jest as his following posts made clear!

I suppose we could only talk airplanes and the weather maybe the nine other gazzilion topics we already talk about on RCU RC Groups etc :? :D

I think rule 1 applys to pretty much this whole deal and the whole post!

Hey, if we could just talk airplanes we'd never need a moderator!!
Like that's ever gonna happen! :D

We want to host our own system so WE CAN talk about other things, and so Swany CAN call whoever he wants a ***. I also believe RCU and RCGroups are too restrictive...that's why I put my own time into making this place a better home for all the Bros. Sometimes, people can just get a little carried away.

I guess that came out pretty much 100% opposite of what I meant. I basically was sarcastically saying that we should talk BRO stuff, and talking SMACK about Bros IS BRO STUFF, but not, for instance, presidential politics.

Cuss words are fair game here, as are personal atacks that EVERYONE with a brain and an understanding of ProBonics knows are in fun. Remember, I'm the one that got slammed for saying *** on RCU!!

What kind of unmitigated hell are you talking about Chuck?
You got yer flooding, where some jerk pops in and just runs a script that posts continuously, nobody else can post. You get guys pop in and send you a worm, you get relentless streams of jackasses that live in IRC pop in to cause trouble for RC Plane geeks (that's us).

You guys think a little cussing is pushing the envelope, you ain't seen nuthin' compared to what true IRC predators can do.
