Try building on Parchment paper

Here's a tip some of the new guys might not know about.
Next time your getting ready to build over a nice set of plans, instead of putting down wax paper try parchment paper instead.
I've been doing it for years and have yet to have any problems with it.
The big drawback to wax paper is the wax itself, if it get's scraped off then glue will adhere to the paper itself which makes a mess. Or the wax comes off on the wood and then you have problems getting covering to stick to it.
I buy Reynolds brand Parchement Paper, you can find it next to the wax paper in most food stores.
Give it a try, I think you'll like it.

That sounds like a good tip... I always have trouble with the wax paper sticking to the balsa frame I'm building...

I'm guessing that the Parchment doesn't stick to CA?
Nope, so far I haven't found any CA that will bond to it.
If you spill it will sit there waiting for you to stick a finger into it then adhere you to whatever you touch next!!
I've always used kitchen cling-film (Glad wrap) over the top of my plans when building.

It's totally transparrent and nothing seems to stick to it.

I guess you could also use the mylar backing film from monocote or solarfilm if that's your favorite covering film -- but I haven't tried this myself.
I always use the plans protector from Great Planes.

I've used that stuff before.. But the CA stuck to it big time.... Do you have any trouble with that?
Ulf don't build :D

I've used wax paper, Saran wrap, you name it. But I'm gonna get some parchment paper..if I don't like it I can always cook with it
not as much as it sticks to wax paper. Will give the parchment paper a try next time too to compare. Well, won't probably be until I build the 60 size MoJo.
I will give it a try...but I have always found that sandpaper will take the wax paper off..Hell dont you guys sand before you cover...

I don't know if he cooks but he can sure mix well!!
I think it's the nitro on the starter that makes the drinks taste so damn good :p
I ran out of wax paper when I built my OMP edge. My wife had some parchment paper in the house, so I tried it. Wow what a difference much easier to work with!
yea i like the parchment paper too the gp plans protector is a big waste of money in my book. the parhment is the way to go
