So our club had their annual fall fly-in today. Had a great turnout. Over 30 registered pilots, and probably over 50 planes. Guess how many were profiles?

ONE.

Ok, two if you count Tony Stillman's Shockey.

My 65" Yak was the only other one there. Even Ed Moorman of RC Report fame was there and all he brought to fly was a WW1 scale bipe. No Burrito, no Taco, not even his Extreme 330.

I felt all alone. I was hoping buildflycrash would make it over, but I guess he wasn't able to. Man, I gotta make a ProBro event sooner or later.

Sounds like my club. I'm slowly getting some interest built up but damn, it's a steep uphill climb. Several of the guys have been watching me do my silly stuff and are definitely interested, esp. when I tell them the price of the planes. I'll keep hammering at them and sooner or later someone will come up with one.
I'm usually the only one at a Pro Bro that can't 3D for shit! Everyone else is 6" off the runway doing inverted harriers, knife edges etc it looks like I'm in the stratosphere... At least at a circle fly even I look good up close when everyone else is flying great big greasy circles 8)
I'm not a member of a club, but I'm thinking about it. Local club has 300+ members, and none of 'em that I've seen fly 3D. Except Jason Schulman, and, boy, does he make me look bad! I can't believe how big the circles are that they fly. It's a 75 acre field, and most of 'em fly way past the edges. How do they steer those little dots?
That's an amazing coincidence! My club had a fly-in today also and guess how many profiles? One! Well, maybe it's not so amazing. I don't know what the profile that I saw 3D flying was. About the time I got close enough to it to realize that the fuel tank was mounted in the wing my 2 yr. old daughter decided it was time to pitch a screaming fit over something so I never got to talk to the guy. Went back later but he was gone. There were a lot of large scale planes out at my club today. Those guys got a lot more money for their hobby than I do. I told my wife she should be thankful I had developed a love for profiles because they were cheaper.

I'm trying to stir up more interest in profiles at my club, but there aren't very many guys under retirement age there. Most like lazy circle flying with their Avistars or scale cubs and such. They don't mind me doin my thing, but they aren't gonna join in the fun, either.

That is exactly the same as my club, everyone laughed at me yesterday when I said i was buying a profile in December

At least you can do it. If you recall at Nash, I kinda looked like a circle flyer.

I had a great time at Nash, but it was not a good weekend for my flying.

I dead-sticked my Edge-A-Rito into the trees cause we couldn't get the motor right, I almost flew the wings off my Burrito when the throttle linkage broke loose and stuck at full throttle, had a mid-air with Constrictor and was nearly impaled by a piece prop that flew off a crashed plane.... I've had better display of flying at other times!
In flying my profiles at my club I have noticed that when I take off and start trying to hover out past the runway, in just a very short time my engine is the only one I hear. Everyone else lands and sits down. Sucks to be them. At least I'm up flying and having fun.
I did some slow high altitude large circles with my Knife today just to show the guys I still could and then immediately brought it in over the runway about 1 foot up inverted. Almost bit the big one on that maneuver. I on;y wish that I was as capable as that plane is. It has saved itself from some horrific situations just because it is so agile and light. Sometimes I amaze myself with the silly shit I get into and out of with that plane.
Joebob, Sorry I didn't make it to the event I have been out of touch with the local flying news as our field is being used to pile hurricane debris. It is now just a huge pile of trees. the flying is shut down and I have been Flying over peanut fields near our hunting club and going up to Pace to fly at Spencer Field. I was thinking last week that the north FL bros should get together and scare some circle flyers.

Got the next few weekends tied up, Planting food plots next weekend and sailing in the Keys the week after.

we should plan a mini Pro Bro for next month.
Sounds great to me. I heard about the field at Holley being used for a dump. It's a shame, but hopefully they'll get it cleaned up before too long. I think a lot of the guys from Holley are flying at the new field that I can't remember the name of.

On a side note, I was talking to Ed Moorman and he said he was going to be getting a Mojo for review in RC Report. He mentioned that out out all the kit reviews he's done the only planes he's kept are the Taco and the Burrito. Good job, Paul!
I will drop ED a line and see what date is good for us to get together to fly we do have another bro here in pensacola I will try to contact.

I was going to get the Mojo my self but I ordered a 79" Yak this morning.
That is it for my plane budget for a while.

I am local, give me a shout if you all want to get together. Right now I am profile-less, but have a Sledge framed up and waiting to be covered. Just let me know.
Well, that will be four of us. It ain't Nashville, but for this area, it's better than nothing! Whatever field we can meet at will be fine with me.

Ok North FLA. Bros I think November 13 or 14. Thats Like 2 1/2 weeks. I Like Sunday Afternoon. I think the Heilo folks at Santa Rosa Field will be ok with us. i'm sure they will be nicer to the Bros than the circle flyers at Holley Field

Of course Any Bros are welcome there are some in AL. You guys in Tenn I am sure you know are area I see the Tenn plates on your cars around here all the time.

Santa Rosa Field is about 2 miles South of I-10 off Hwy 87 between Pensacola and Crestview.

Jon595- get that Sledge done, Two weeks is plenty of time. dont you at leaste have a foamy?

I have not heard back from Ed M yet I'm sure he will love the Idea if he is in town.

Cool pic. A Taco, Burrito and MoJo?
Personally, I'd prefer Saturday if possible. By the time I got out of church and over to Santa Rosa field, it would be 3PM, and that doesn't leave much flying time before dark this time of year....
