I have found someone who is willing to sell me 4 HS-5645MG's for around $180 or 4 HS-5925MG's for about $250. So, I can only afford one set or the other. If anyone has any info on the pros and cons of each would you just let me know? Thanks!

Two possibilities. One is an 48" OMP Edge 540 and the other is one that I am thinking of buying soon an OMP 65" Yak. I already have the Edge built and am working on covering it when I am home from school, since my apartment is a bit too small to work on stuff.
like scole said the 5945s have 181ozinch torq so for the 65"yak thats the way to go, but for a 48" yak the 5925s would be plenty at 128ozinch
both servos cost the same so the $180 is a better deal unless he beat them up.
they are the same servo just geared diff for torq vs speed :D

He said 5645 not 5945s........the 59 series is coreless the 56 is not.
That being said Crasher....shoot me a PM I might be interested in the ones you dont get. Could you get a better deal if you bought all of them?
Im semilocal so we wouldnt have to ship anything.
5645 = 168 oz 3 pole ferrite .18 transit speed

5925 = 127 oz coreless .08 transit speed

I would think either of those servos would work just fine on the 68 inch yak. I think some of you guys are confusing the 56 an 59 series....therefore the difference in price.
Hmm I just checked Servo City....prices are shipped

4-5645s = 186.97

4-5925s = 298.77

Maybe you need to look at some new ones.......
sorry, i read it fast and wrong :D
I'd go with the 5925 servos -- they're ultra-fast and have heaps of torque for most birds. But, if you *do* need the additional torque you can always replace the gears with a set of 5945 gears and bob's your uncle -- kind of like having two servos for the price of one (and an alternative gearset).

The 5925s in my Katana P are gross overkill but *sooooo* nice and ultra precise with perfect centering.

The only downside of the coreless servos is that they're a little more easily damaged in a crash. Where a 3 or 5-pole motor might survive unscathed, very high Gs can distort the coils in a coreless and that will cause it to bind or even lock solid. I've seen a (very) heavy landing do this in one case.

But I don't build em to crash, I build em to fly!
Carolina, I have many of both. The 59 series are what you would really want (speaking of Hitec brand) in a big, expensive plane. The 56 series are pretty darn good servos and cheaper. I don't think you would have any complaints if you put the 56 series servos in your profile. I use 5945's and 5925's in my 31% Extra / ZDZ 80, and 5645's in my OMP GS540 / Moki 2.10. The 56 series will easily handle a .40 size profile. I've read lots of complaints about Hitec and others, but I've had overall, pretty good luck with them. I don't like to dog on any particular servo, but several of my Hitec 225's have toasted and I now use them on throttle only. That's the only Hitec servo that I have reservations about.

Thanks for all the replies ya'll, but unfortunately I wasn't able to act fast enough to get either set of them. I don't get paid again until the 15th and both sets were sold to someone else cause he could pay for them immediately. But I have decided that I will most likely go for the 56 series when I get the money to buy them.
just buy some JR 8411's or 8611's and never worry again :wink:
Yet another plug for the MPI 870MG. there about 53 bucks each, corless, over 100 ounces with .10 speed at 4.8V and have held up extremely well in my 65" yak, there not digital (maybe a good thing) and center great maxxprod.com I think
A coreless servo is better than a 3 pole servo any day. Heck I'd take an analog Futaba 9202 over a Hitec 5645 any day. Coreless servos center much better, hold much better and have better resolution. If you're gonna go Hitec get the 5900 series.
