Just wondering if anyone know anything about it yet???

There isn't an upgrade from G2 to G3, but the 5 Add-ons will still work with the new G3.

No upgrade?

That sucks!!! :?
is there a website about it with screen shots
You know why no upgrade right, My guess is they have this program so locked down it would require you to first insert your original Real flight then it would ask you to insert your G2 upgrade disk THEN you put in the mile long SN for G3....every freaking time you wanna use the program.

You know it's bad when you basically spent over $500 bucks for a flight simulator, now you gotta spend another $200+ bucks....sheesh $700 for one product! O-well still cheaper than the real thing and you can fly and crash when ever you want!
AFP rules, about $130 from OMP i'm sure AFP2 is close though you can never get ahead with computer shit or airplanes for that matter :D
IMO g2-g3 is overpriced, and like wagas said the copy protect is so strong that it make the program unusable, i had realflight origional and you had to always use the disk and the slightest scratch would make you have to call them to get a new one, you gota send yours in first

Just to provide a dissenting point of view...

My first flight sim was the Dave Brown one. It had crappy VGA graphics but the physics were *very* good, especially considering the price and the age of the program.

I was more than a little disappointed with AFP because although the graphics are vastly superior to the DB sim, the physics were not that much better at all. I'm also disappointed that AFP handles smaller craft (like 40-sized 3D ships) so poorly and seems oriented far more towards bigger planes.

While the price is okay, I think AFP would have done better to focus on actually improving their attention to detail and provide more mainstream models than offer things like electric-powered hercules, turbine-powered 747s etc.

The Aircraft carrier scenery is also "cute" but somewhat impractical -- after all, how many of *us* are really going to find ourselves flying a model from the deck of a carrier?

Perhaps it's just that I like to use a sim for practicing real manuvers using regular (size/design) models in practical scenery rather than treating the thing like an arcade game that I'm disappointed.

I have RF G2 with all the up grades and ad-ons, never once have I had to insert a disk before flying. Cant wait to get G3!

G3 will only run on XP.

I agree that things get weird when the planes get small,
And the AFP graphic interface is not as good
As for the limited plane selection, You can download many planes for free, .
But for the big planes the physics is very impressive !
If G3 fixes G2's sucky 3D physics then they have a winner, its still to much $$$
I've never seen a video of g2 doing 3D and precision in the same setup.
I pretty much just fly the extra 330 and the larger omp models on AFP, and i only use the desert scenery or the mountain one that you can slope on.
G2 has Mars, can you fly on Mars?
But, its kind of like the Mac vs PC debate :D
as long as we get better who cares right.

Well then....it's clear you did not have the original Real Flight now have you!

As far as arcade feel goes....I'm sure that there are Ospreys and harriers that are quite common in the RC world too! Real flights smaller airplanes physics suck just as much as the big ones....and once you figure out that the model NEVER changes actual position on the screen (dead center) it gets quite annoying as well. But I have learned A LOT from these simulators and would be no-where near the pilot I pretend to be with out it either.....
I got the classic version, all the add-ons, and up-grades to G2 and inter-link. Still works perfectly. Never had a problem. But then, I do everything by the manufactures instructions and don't fool around with computer software and changing stuff. I'v always figured that theres a reason why the company (knifeedge) does this stuff, because they know what they are doing. In my option, G2 is great and am still wainting on G3!

Anyone heard anything more on G3?

I'm looking forward to the release of G3. I work at a local hobby store and it looks like we should have them next week (G3 recently went gold meaning that it was certified and ready for duplication....) Yes, it sucks that you can't upgrade, but thats ok. Were all of the Windows Millenium Edition (yes it was the worst O.S. ever....) users pissed when they found out that they couldn't goto Windows XP with an upgrade? Welcome to the world of PC Software people. It's a totally new platform, like G3. I can't believe how people on one of the other forums (you know which one...) are already bashing G3 and passing judgement on it- when it HASN'T EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET! These are the same people who in the same breath shit all over G2. I've had G2 for a few years now, and I am extremely satisfied with it. It taught me how to fly and was so helpful when learning new maneuvers that I didn't want to risk my plane with - i.e. hovering, harriers, torque rolls, rolling circles. HOWEVER, G2 WILL NOT 3D out of the box. You really have to tweak the plane parameters to make 3d possible. Is it realistic? Somewhat. Is it Perfect? No. People bashing G2 don't even take this into consideration- G2 wasn't marketed towards the 3-d fliers. I have a few models on G2 (one of them being the 3D Bee which you can see on the build/design forum) which behave VERY CLOSE to real life. You just need to spend time messing with the numbers. I haven't tried AFP or Reflex though. A friend of mine has tried both and he says that physics-wise, he wasn't impressed (g2 is still his favorite). People praise Reflex because of its graphics, which I think are overrated- what people don't realize that the backgrounds are 2-d pictures with a scaling 3d model of an airplane/heli on top... Not true 3-d environments like G2/G3/AFP which I prefer over the 2-d. I'll be picking up my copy of G3 *hopefully* this coming Friday when our stock order arrives and will post some impressions/answer any questions people may have. Can't wait to try the new plane editor (changes to a plane are reflected on the 3-d model which opens up all sorts of possibilities- My 3dBee Profile for G3!) Sorry for the long post just thought I'd add my 2 cents to the Flight Sim Wars.
