Yes, just cut about an inch off each end, and they'll spool up really quick. Don't worry about balancing them. That's a myth they invented to get you to buy a prop balancer.

LOL No, I tend to think it's the weight and the width of the prop that makes it suck. But I bet if you ask around there are plenty of Bros who love them that would trade you for a few 12x4s.

Now, I'm wondering, were you serious? Cause I might have just missed it!!

Just sand down the hub and the blades until the thing weighs less.

I don't think he is joking. I've seen people do exactly that. If you feel like your engine is not performing well. Just cut of a couple of inches on the prop.

We go visit this small town one weekend and decide to chuck a couple of fun flys in the back to play with the folks there. We find this one guy that is having some serious problems with his Super Tigre .45 as he can't get enough rpm out of it and the engine keeps cutting out after a couple of minutes flying. I get appointed to check it out and dang! An 11X5 cut down to what apears to be a 8Xsomething! Engine sounds like a freakin bee on steroids. Now imagine me trying to explain to this old timer that his engine is simply overheating! Trust me being 22 doesn't make this easy.

Joking? Not me! Take a 15-4 and cut an inch off each tip, and you get a 13-3 1/2 or so!! Awesome pulling power and instant spool- up, but you can't buy one off the shelf!
Actually, I WAS joking, but now it's starting to sound feasible. I figured Citabria was trying to start another thread like the "Hovering" thread, with all the wise-ass comebacks and stuff. If he was serious, I apologize. Just wonder why we haven't heard back from him?

I was serious. You haven't heard back from me because I flew my sack off this weekend. Had a freakin blast!!!!!!

I'm gonna play around with those props, just wondered if anyone else found a length that works well.

I'll try to balance them too. Ever have trouble with loose motor mounts?

Good to see your up and around again Gordo. Or at least can make it to your computer.

Glad you had a good time this weekend, I flew my electric a lot!! I'm feeling GREAT actually. Modern medicine ROCKS!!

I am one who hates this prop, but others love it. Personally I can't see modifying an APC. There are 11.5x4 and 11x4 with the same shape, so I'm not sure you will get any upgrade with the cut down one. Then again, if you do it, let us know. You might invent the perfect 3D prop!!!

I'm gonna modify a zinger one time to Chucks specs, that's supposed to be the Shizzle!!

I like the 11.5X4. Just don't want to throw away several props, they aren't cheap. And it's hardly worth listing them for sale.

I'm going to be on vacation for the next week, so I won't get a chance to mess with them for a while. I'm going to miss my planes....

Gordo,
A freind of mine had a very similar procedure done just a few days before you must have. He's doing well too.
