I'm meeting with my club's
board Tuesday night to start planning for a ProBro in Omaha for next year. When would be the best time of the year? I'm thinking of mid-late September, maybe the 1st week of October. I want to get this set at a time when it won't battle for attendance with other ProBro events.

Shoot me some ideas.

Man, we need a central/shared calendar.

Here's what I see so far:

Jan
Feb
Mar (20 - 21 Houston)
Apr
May (1 - 2 Crossroads of America Pro Bro) (22-23 Memphis)
Jun (5-6 NC ProBro) (26-27 MO-PRO-BRO)
Jul (17-18 Cookeville)
Aug (21-22 Feeling the Heat 3D in Tulsa)
Sep (Nashville)
Oct
Nov
Dec

In Nebraska the months of Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb are out unless you want to freeze your butt off. Late Oct is iffy and early march is iffy.

Did I miss something in April? That might work, except it's usually rainy and windy. The 1st weekend in August or last weekend in July might be OK. Everybody likes a little heat and humidity, right?!?!

OK, I know it's WAY early, and I'll start marketing it late this year/early next year, but I just got out of the club board meeting and they are VERY excited about hosting a ProBro. In fact, they said they will close the field on the Saturday of the event so we can have unrestricted, uninterrupted hovering over the runway. Friday and Sunday will have to be shared days.

It will be in Omaha on July 29th-31st 2005. The President asked me to start writing articles in the club newsletter to start educating our 200 members about the ProBro. We have about 10 to 20 that are 3Ding at various levels, but I'm the only avid profile flyer. That will change.

I must say, I'm very happy. Up to this point I thought the club was anti 3D. They are actually VERY excited about this event.

One bit of bad news....we have a 500 foot PAVED runway, but we do have lots of grass around it

Yep, the dome was the first thing we did. I loved it!! The Omaha Zoo makes the K.C. zoo look little league. The drive to the zoo parking lot was 3 hrs on the dot from my house. Keep us boned up on the Omaha ProBro for next year, I'll be there.

P.S. I sent you an email the other day about user names in the ProBro list. Not sure if you got it or not.

Thanks,

John Wells

About as close to a lock as I can give at this time. My club's board has already approved it, but the official meeting to set next year's calendar hasn't happend yet.

At this point, I want it to happen so badly, that even if the .0001% chance happens that it doesn't go through, I'm going to host it in a local farmer's field, or a different club. I have a lot of friends in another local club that would host it also.

It will happen.
