Possible regrettable buys

The Nv40 on outside looks std. But it is the gas burning glow ignition. I have had it a couple seasons and have not tried to run it yet. I plan to this season. The other I just got is a spark ignition gas burning 9cc ngh. Both engines I have read reviews from one extreme to the other. If they can run good I usually can get a engine dialed in. Other pic is some of my engines waiting to get in the air again someday. View attachment 145701

So you have a Norvel 40 that has a glow plug and runs on methanol/oil mix like a typical glow engine? Or a special glow plug for use with gasoline/oil mix?

And you have a 9cc (.55) Norvel with spark ignition that runs on methanol/oil mix? Or gasoline/oil mix?
I have a couple NV 40s that are regular glow, nitro motors. The one I am showing looks the same on outside but it uses a OS turbo plug and some other differences and it runs on gasoline. The NGH 9cc works out to be about a .55 and it runs on gasoline also but it has a mini sparkplug and ignition box. This one might be more suited as a sport motor. It will be somewhat heavier because of the ignition box. I dont know why the pics posted multiple times.NGH engines I dont know much about them. The older ones were not supposed to be of good quality but the new ones are supposed to be much better. Just from visual inspection this one looks like good build quality so the only question is how it will run.
Here are links for the two engines.https://www.motionrc.com/products/ngh-gt9-pro-9cc-two-stroke-engine-ngh-gt9pro?variant=19963797897329http://www.nvengines.com/
The OS Turbo series of plugs are all designed to run on methanol/oil/nitro glow fuel.
OS makes a G5 glow plug for gasoline, but it doesn't have the tapered end like the turbo series, so it won't fit if the head of that Norvel 40 is machined to accept a turbo plug.

So I'm about 99% convinced that your Norvel 40 was designed to run on alcohol based glow fuel.
Go to NV engines.com and the engine is talked about on the front page. There are also some reviews on the forum sites. Some people had nothing but problems and others have no issues. I like the low cost gas part about it. I will see how it runs this summer. One advantage it has is the engine itself is pretty lite and you dont need any ignition box or bigger battery to run the ignition.
I owe you an apology!
I also owe you a thank you because I've never heard of this particular gasoline/glow engine before.
Thanks for the link!
