My Burrito Cover Design

I've always wanted to do this design on a profile, and the Burrito seemed to be the perfect choice: a burrito is food and the scheme I chose is also food. I chose to base my design on my favorite probro field snack.

First, here's a picture of the bottom of the wing, standard probro fare.

Here's a shot of the little guy who is the mascot of the food I chose. His name is Gary.

I'm liking where this is going! My original plan was a snack-foor scheme. Ever try any Flamin' Hot Cheetos?

I just love GARY'S SALTED PEANUTS!

And here is the top of the wing. I'm no Gator, but I'm pleased with the results.

Cutting out those letters took a long time. I'm looking for an easier way to add some more statements from Gary's nut sack like:

U.S. Grade Fancy

No Preservatives

Product of U.S.A.

Classic Roast

Anyone have any easier way than cutting out little bitty letters from monokote?
:D :D :D

tell boogerboy what you want and he does it for cheap in vinyl, i bet for $10ish you could get all of them :D
Yep, I remember Tim commenting how much he admired Gary's nut sack!
Hell, I saw his hand on Gary's nuts when we were in Louisville! :D :D :D

Seriously though that is a bad ass job Tim! You should be very pleased with that one. I was gonna suggest the vinyl thing too, but I had no idea that BoogerBoy was THAT cheap, I might have to give him a call.

Fly The SACK off that thing!

how do you do this awsome work?
How did you scale-up the mascot & could you just do the same with the lettering?

Haven't had them. Sounds like the makings of a great scheme, though. :rockoncool:

Thanks, Spastic. I forgot about the vinyl thing. I've never done it. You rub them on, right? Do you have to seal them with something?

I can't freehand worth a darn. I used a scanner and Paintshop Pro.

I scanned the design in then played with the size till it seemed about right.

Then I printed 4 copies: one for each color.

I taped the first color Monokote flat onto my cutting mat (glass is better). I sprayed the back of the design very lightly with 3M77, let it dry, then "stuck it" on top of the Monokote.

I then cut that color pieces out by cutting through the design and the Monokote with a sharp #11 blade. I planned for slight overlap where needed, and changed the blade as soon as it got even slightly more difficult to cut with.

I repeated this process for the other three colors.

I used the Windex method (do a search for Windex on this forum) to assemble the little pieces into the design on the wing.

I quickly had trouble knowing whether I was lining things up correctly, but then I had a brainstorm. I remembered I had some transparency sheets that worked with my color printer, so I printed the design onto a transparency. Then it was easy to lay the transparency over the wing on occasion, and "look through it" to see if I was lining things up right.

Warning. Don't attempt this unless you are willing to put in much time. I could have finished, flown, cashed, repaired, and flew again in the time it took me to cut out and apply all the letters and little Gary. I have a renewed respect for Gator's work.

Hey Tater.. I have Chester Cheeto imported into AutoCad someplace. I was disassembling him into outlines of his component colors that I could print out and trace onto Monokote.
