A friend won an MS hornet electric heli in a raffle a few days ago and it came with a ms-001 brusless motor and ms-016 speed controler he said he would let me barrow the setup for my new foamy if I could use it. Does any one have any expirence or know anything about this pair. The websight did not give much detail.
any help would be great

I could be wrong, so seek answer confirmation on this, but I "think" that the MS brushless motors are made by MiniAC, and are the equivalent to the 1215/16, or the 1215/20.

If so, then the motor/speed controller setup should work in your foamy project until you can snag your own equipment. Hobby-Lobby sells gearboxes for these motors to get you in the air. Just make sure you can determine which wind motor it is, and make the appropriate selections for batteries, and props to keep the amps within tolerances.

Alfster thanks for your help. I just wish I wasn't so electric eliterate and could figure out some of this stuff. Would the gws gear box on a 3 cell 1200 mah lipo pack work. I feel so stupid when it comes to this electric stuff but I shur do love flying the foamys in the backyard.
thanks for the help.

Brandon,

I haven't used this brand of motor, so I am not sure whether or not the GWS gearbox will fit it. The 3S 1200 LiPo will be fine.

Don't worry about having to learn the electric stuff. I have been flying RC since 1985, but when I started into electrics last year, I was completely lost, and had to learn from the ground up. Just read all the electric forums every day, and before you know it, you will be well educated in electric flight.
