Well ,I just read the AMA rag and old DB is at it again
sounds like a broken-skip- broken - skip- record-skip
just more proof that this guy HAS TO BE REMOVED!!!
or we will be engulfed with more (what_if) type rules
My God I never relized how dangerous hovering and tail toughing could be . Looks like I need to find myself a old 50lb warbird with some plastic servos
and fly it at 200mph   to be safe!!!!

Same thing that he said in e-mails posted here, with a little polish on it. I got a kick out of his closing comment:

"How do we address those who say AMA should outlaw hovering because it interferes with the safe operation of normal flying?
Ironically, I've received as many of those requests as I have from those opposed to the Rule 9, but they are not as well coordinated."

I could understand talking about the issue between 3D'rs and non 3Dr's, to try to create some harmony, but to close with something like that just sounds like he's trying to fan the fire. Or am I missing something?

I think he is outright lying about receiving as many anti 3D emails. He would have included that litte bit of info in the emails he sent us. I think he just made it up. Maybe he knows he's on his way out and is throwing a fit.

Well, I gotta tell you this: The BD article is worse than I thought when I heard about it in Memphis. We need to be on this hard. He is useing MA and his position to drive a wedge into the slight crack that already exists in the modeling world. He has intentionaly laid out his position while setting us up as the bad guys. This is the same as the class warfare used to pit poor people against rich people, rather than helping everyone achieve more, DB wants to pit all non-3Ders against the 3D community rather than work to keep all modelers united. It aint OK!!!!!

You can bet that the Gordo noise making machine is on this one as in the past. I thought Save3D was going into hibernation, but mark my words, it is needed now as much as ever!!!!!! I'd put money down that within the year you see action to ban hovering all together based on his last statement in this article. I'll be forming up a letter to him ASAP and I'll post it here. Please do the same!!!

DOWN WITH BROWN!!!

Can anyone really ban hovering?

I mean would his silly rule stop you from hovering? Not me.

Everyone I fly with can either touch the tail, or they want to. I think we'll all keep doing or trying, no matter what the AMA says. We all know it's safe, right?
What happens if we tell the AMA to stick their supplemental insurance?

Don't take this the wrong way Gordo, I will support you any way I can.

DB needs dethroned.

Silly Brown, 3-D is for pilots, not circle jerks.

Hey, we're all frieds, and all on the same side, so I'll be straight. YEP, they could. Maybe you would still do it, and I would still do it too. But not at any AMA club, and any AMA event. Oh, by the way, every ProBro event has required AMA, even ours here in OK. Sure, we bend the rules a bit. But if they spell out that rule that clear, what club would host a ProBro?

Until there is an alternative to the AMA, or we achieve World Domination by 3Ders, we must fight, failure is not an option...........

I think our club would still host a Pro Bro... we have very little respect for DB and the AMA.

I'm probably fortunate to belong to a club where the landowner is an active club member, and a founder of the IMAA. His son was an XFC pilot last year, and will be again this year. So the site is extremely 3-D freindly. We bend the rules a little too.

Without a doubt the AMA leadership needs to change.

I've started asking myself, "what has the AMA done for me."

Their insurance doesn't kick in until your homeowners policy runs out. How many claims do they actually have to pay out on each year? And none of them are 3-D related incidents.

I get a neat little card that says I'm a member so I can fly at other clubs events, but still don't understand why I need it. Especially when I see rules being bent anyway.

I get a half ass rag in the mail every month that hardly ever covers the style of flying I'm interested in.

All this costs me $60 per year.....and now they want to tell me I can't intentionally bump my rudder on the ground.

If they want to outlaw hovering, I assume this will include choppers? Do the heli guys know about this?

That irritates me

I wish there was a form letter that we could email or mail to him like the lobbyists do. I'd sure send one to him with my name and address on it. There are a lot of 3D flyers that would send him one if they knew what he's up to. Dirty little sneaky beginnings of a ban is what he's trying to get started.

Maybe we can convince Gordo to draft a letter that we less eloquant bros can print and send to the offending parties.
I'd be proud to add my name in defence of 3-D

I think he might find out just how many 3Ders there are now, not to mention the guys that want to fly 3D. This could really bite him in the ass. If he can't see the future of the hobby then he should pulled now. Dave Brown must be taken down.

I don't think it is out of the question that Pro Bro Flyins will be held at private fields in the future. I do think it is a shame that the AMA would shoot it's self in the foot because Dave Brown is not a forward thinker. If the tide ever turns against the AMA it would be hard to stop it. I would be very careful if I were them.

I am new here..But to add my 2 cents.. why not join the UMA... OUr club (Tri county Sky Barons ) switched to the UMA last year.. It is first coverage..no politics.... just simple plan coverage in the event of accidents...If the AMA wants to continue to snowball... waste membership money building more "exectutive" buildings..and improving the flyin site that 90% of he paying members will never fly at..I got tired of rising costs...and a magazine that didnt do anything but take up space and have to be thrown away.. I joined the UMA...and subscribe to rc report..

LIke I said....just my $.02

yep......yep......yep.......still looking for anything to disagree with.

Oh, here's a little thing: No form letters!!! Do it yourself in your own words. These type of issues get no attention when formletters are used, especially email. Trust me, been through this for a while now!!

On the UMA: First, we'd all still need AMA to fly at other fields/events. Second, when this whole thing started, I sent many emails to UMA to get answers. Out of about 14 emails I got one answer: We won't regulate 3D as long as we haven't got claims." I wanted details about UMA, membership? History? Future? Why isn't it growing like crazy? I was an SFA charter member, we grew like crazy until AMA lawsuited us out. I forget the #s but it was 10s of thousands of members. And UMA saves me what, $15?

Somone would have to work real hard to convince me that UMA is a serious alternative.

Now guys, listen up. I'm all Bro at heart, and with that in mind, I'm gonna speak my piece here.

First off, individuals play games, and teams win championships. Only as a group can we actually do anything like winning in this battle, long term. Are you guys just gonna wait to see how long Gordo can fight this on his own? Write a letter, send it to DB and your VP. Let them know how you feel things should be. Please, don't just say there should be no rules about 3D... It does not have to be pretty, just to the point, courteous, and professional. I know it's hard not to call DB a jackass when you e-mail him, but try, please.

Secondly, in December vote out either (or both) if you don't like the response you get. Persoanlly I'm gonna back Mathewson for President. The DB era is gone.

If you are not part of the solution, that makes you part of the problem!

It will be a long time and many $$$ before any new orginazation will replace the AMA as far as events go. Not many events will allow a pilot with no AMA card to fly. If my club didn't require an AMA membership, I'd probably drop it, but the first time I went to fly somewhere else, I'd probably have to break down and send in my $58 anyway.

No votin' means no bitchin' gentlemen. Get in the fight, or learn to fly in a circle! :x

Could someone please help me down from this soapbox now?
