Got some good flying in today with the Knife. Still can't hover worth a crap but it's coming along. I did learn that right thrust makes a ton of difference. One washer under the front mounting bolts worked out perfectly. Up lines are straight and when I go inverted she stays straight.

I need an instructor BAD! If you don't have someone to show you how to do shtuff you have a hard time learning how.

It is supposed to KE real well but I was all over the sky with it today.
Wants to roll out, pitch to the belly, fall out of KE. and assorted other nonsense. I did find out one thing good about it, with about 15 mph winds it will slip sideways into the runway just as smooth as glass. Kept the nose about 45 degrees to the wind with rudder and jockeyed throttle and she would pull a gorgeous side slip. Harriers are no problem at all but my nut sack ain't big enough yet to try it inverted.
When I try to do a wall into a hover, she just takes off for the sky. got to work on slowing that down some.
Also working on keeping the plane in real close. Did most of my flying today at less than 50 feet AGL, some was down to about 2 to 3 feet.

More tomorrow, if I live and do well.

I think they named it the Knife because it is flat and kind of looked like a Knife,Not because it would K/E, you have to glue the vert stab to the rudder that will help some...

Thats so true...I fly by myself for the most part an not many ppl around here 3D. What really helped me was making a trip to a fields where a lot of the guys were kickbutt pilots an watched what they were doing. It really helped me get the hang of it. :D
Same here, I learn more in a two day probro than I do in the month of flying by myself
I think the best way to learn 3D is probably with a sim and a foamy....actually 3-4 foamies.
I tried a sim and didn't like it worth a flip. May have to go back to it again.
This is definitely a learning curve that is very steep.
Hey Jim what sim did you use?
I used a copy of Real Flight G2 and I didn't like it at all because I can't get the perspective. You lose track of where the runway is. I can already fly real well, I just want it to practice 3D stuff with it.
Jim, next time you are on the sim try clicking on "view" then "ground". That will keep the ground in view no matter where your plane is. It's the same view as we fly for real. Hope this helps.

Try entering the hover from your harriers? 8)
