Katana 40 GS ARF

Just wanted to drop an FYI. The Katana 40 GS ARF's (replacement of the Katana P ARF) are in. I talked with Alex at Accel and they have them in stock, and they are getting them into the hands of distributors too. I know OMP has picked up a bunch.

If you have questions or problems just post them here. I would also like constructive criticism on the manual, since I wrote it.

Yes. The bipes and Katana 70 will be in just around the corner.

After that, He'll shoot me if I open my mouth too much
So..When do you think we will see the *** *** **** ????
You're gonna get me in trouble!
 Somebody is keeping a secret!!!
Everybody has secrets.

We've got a full shipment of Katana ARFs in stock ready to ship. Just so everyone is aware, these new Katanas are the version I personally flight tested and provided many improvements to Accel Hobbies to before production. We worked back and forth very well and I think you guys are going to like the new Katanas. Thanks for your support Quicker.

I've got mine together. I'm liking the white one better. Throws are 65 degrees out of the box, no trimming required. All double beveled control surfaces. New improved tailwheel. Best of all covered in Ultracote. Manual is much better.

"ultracote" :?: are you sure its not monocote? :?:

I didn't really read it, but it looks really good, a huge improvement. Let's not forget about the details that Mike put into the plane too!

Got the plane all done. Will be up at 8 am flying it. It's got a ton more control deflection. Even put a HS 645 MG on the elevator just for shits and giggles. I can hit 65 deg up 70 down. Should make for some interesting waterfalls.

Will post flight report tomorrow.
WOW!!! Dion is alive ....

Alive, and he's got a new plane!

I forsee many 10 foot high harriers with a quick 180 waterfall to 5 foot high inverted harriers.

That will put a spot on the seat!!!

I wonder if he actually put this one together himself.....that would make it what.... his second assembly? KatP being the first? :D

Actually I found out that building planes is just as fun as crashing them. I'll build a couple kits this winter.

Anyhoo, flew the Katana GS, although winds were 30 MPH I had a great time with it. It flew as predicted. Much more powerful elevator rolled in some perfect waterfalls. There was slight coupling on knife edge, but much easier to control. The more powerful rudder had it doing some nice figure 8 knife edges and knife edge loops.

Hopefully winds will calm down a little do some harriers tomorrow. Almost impossible to do a real harrier @ 30 mph.
It's only 30mph there! It's 45+ here :(
Quicker.. where do I get one of these.. best price that is.. ARF preferrable...

I had the yellow one for the first round, but the white is definitley easier to see and looks much better. We've been selling yellow ones 3:1 which I'm really surprised. Guess cause of the Funtana's being yellow this time.

I got about 10 flights on it yesterday. Harriers are absolutely rock solid. Flat spins are much better as well. Totally flat.

The new version that we are selling now has the latest changes I incorporated into the design and definately has improved performance both in stability and pitch authority. Just to put in a big plug for Matt and Clay's Katana kit design though, it's a toss up on performance. The kit version has a flat top wing and I think is a bit more stable in upright harriers while the ARF version is symetrical all the way around. The stripes we added on the bottom covering help out the visuals I think.....at least for me.
