No kidding!

I am so pumped about the performance of my E Taco, I had a dream to take my favorite profile and scale it down to 36" span. Build it extra light like I did the E Taco, use the same power, same gear. Actually build it exactly like the E Taco, just with a different fuse profile. I'm even gonna use the same Taco ribs, just cut a new set with spar slots for a straight LE instead of the swept LE of the Taco.

I have already purchased the extra motor/gearbox and have the servos in house. CF tubes are here now. All I need to do is scale the planform down for the fuse and tail feathers, ailerons, etc.

I am of course building a second E Taco, but why I never thought to scale down other profiles and apply the same technique to them..I just can't imagine why I never thought of this until the middle of last night!!

By "favorite profile" I assume you mean the Edge? I was saying a similar thing to Bill the other day. the Taco is close enough, if you just pulled the LE straight, Viola! Edge-ish thing!!

I don't supose you would like to list the changes you made to make the e-Taco so light would you? After flying Paul's old and new one I looked at my newest and saud "I hate you...." I have got to get a Taco with lower wingloading, that's all there is to it!! The AXI kicked ass, and SOOOOOOOOOOOO quit

Well, the Sledge.. A 36" span super light E Sledge is what I'm building.

Axi?? please.... I thought you liked the Razor...

Anyway, here are the E Taco mods, they have been on the 'net for quite a while for those who are interested.

My input to the thread doesn't start until the last page..

And I forgot, you didn't get to see my E Taco fly. Well, you missed it.

pauls was great too. I really liked it!! What's your beef with the Axi? It was terific, super quiet and way powerful.

Anybody got the skills to build a 36 inchish 530ish square 2 pound Sledge that would survive 25 size glow? I'd prefer a little thicker airfoil than what I saw on the Taco, but that's just a preference. My Mini is getting beat to hell, and probably won't last long at this rate. There is said to be a new version of the Mini in the works, but I might need something in the mean time...

I'm a customer if you do. :D

If you scale the Sledge rib down 75% like (I am doing) the rest of the plane, the wing is actually the same thickness as the Taco. Mine was 1/8" thinner than stock since I left the sheeting off, and not having a sheeted LE makes it look thinner. I think I will ad half ribs in between the main ribs on both the new E Taco and E Mini Sledge to keep the covering from curving in so bad between the ribs on the LE

Ironically, I like the thinner winged planes....especially the tip. I think this is one of the reasons I like my Sledge so much more than my OMP FF 540P. So I'm very anxious to see how this experiment comes out. I can't help but think it's gonna be killer. It's gonna be killer having an E Taco and E Mini Sledge at the same time, and as soon as I get 3 more packs, I'll be set. :D

Second and third! I'm going to build them at the same time since they will basically be the same construction.

I'm shooting for Gordos deal in August, Razorbacks in Sept., and Nashville also in Sept.

If my 25 size Edgealotta does well with electric... It won't be hard to do a glow conversion.... I should have the electric version out soon...
