This is my 4th flag I'v done, all have been done on profiles.....the types of covering in this series are:

White Ultracote for my base/back ground
Grey, transparent red and transparent blue monokote.

I applied the all monokote useing windex...I do use heat around some edges as you will see in these pics....Total time was maybe 6 hrs...I kinda rushed it. alot of these steps work best if you let them sit overnight.......here we go
pics to follow

after you have your model covered white , its time to start laying down the gray monokote. These lines are just random, nothing has to be defined, I like for the 1st few to go from the LE to TE but they dont have to

use an old credit card to squeegie the windex out from under the grey, and wipe up excess Windex with a paper towel

now after you have the grey down, draw the outline of the blue box with the stars. I like to use water soluable flair felt tips for monokote jobs

now lay a peice bigger than the area you drew on the wing over the wing, you can look thru the covering and trace where your blue box will be on the wing.....I screwed up here and didnt cut a peice of monokote big enough so I had to use 2 peices of trans blue, but thats OK...I was running low on trans red too

heres the peice of blue that I added,
make sure you cut it where it hangs over the LE and the tip

this is probably the most difficult process, drawing and cutting out the stars....these stars are not symetrical...there just draw on and I tried to keep them close to the same size...it doenst matter if some are biger or not perfect...remember the flag is suppose to look like its got some depth

after you cut out all the stars, apply Windex to the wing and lay your blue box down, again squeegie the windew out form underneath the blue, be careful some of the tips of the stars may catch the edge of the credit card. make sure you got plenty of blue covering hanging off the LE and wing tips

now after that has set a while,(best results overnight), start at the bottom right hand corner of your blue box, and start drawing your red lines. I make my lines break in a different direction when they touch the grey

then again ike I did with the blue, take a peice of trans red and lay it over the lines you just drew on the wing and trace those lines to your red covering , then remove and cut it out

now just continue to draw the red line, remember to change the direction slightly when it touchs the gray

since the ailerons and the gray had some time to sit...I pulled them off and heated the edges with the iron to seal them down

Like I said I was running low on transparent red monokote so I had to peice some of this in, but a little red laying over alittle red makes a nice color change like the grey does to transparent red
