Himax propshaft modification?

I don't think you have to do anything but put the GWS shaft in the Himax box..

Cool, I have an extra shaft. I'll check it out and see if it is that simple...sure hope so.

The Himax gearbox is shorter where the shaft and bearings go.. so you have to put a short spacer in back of the shaft bearing.. I used a small aluminum tube.. cut to about 1/8" or so... then put the eclip on and works fine.. You can use any of the GWS spurs after this mod..

Himax has a GWS shaft for their gear box. I got one at Allerc.com $3.00.

I gotta get one....Im tired of modifying all my gws props to fit my himaxx shaft.

why do you have to put the spacer in next to the e clip? I'm using one right now without it. I did have to grind down the teeth on the shaft in order to slip the himax gear set on it. Oh, maybe you need the spacer when you are using the gws gear and shaft together. Well anyhow, to get rid of the teeth i put the shaft in a dremel tool or drill and spin. Bring a file up close and grind away until the gears will slip over. I used a slightly rounded file to get em down.

Exactly, if you use the shaft at stock lenght you will have lots of play. I use a couple of 3mm flat washers between the gb front bearing and gear if I'm using GWS gears and shafts.

Now I'm just using a wobbly saver and stock Himax shaft and it couldn't be simpler. Go to Lowes and pick up a pack of "O" rings to use on the saver and put 2 on. I use the 1 1/16"X1/16" for GWS props but you size may vary depending on the saver and prop you run...
