Well guys, I went to Birmingham, AL to go through our SRP (Soldier Readiness proceess) to get ready to get shipped to Iraq. I went through 13 stations in 5 hours, got 3 shots (I have to have my HEP-B series started over...for the 4th time...3 injections over 3 months ) and at the final office, where they were to give me my orders to Iraq, I get told "That position was filled yesterday with someone from the Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR). We do not have a mission for you right now, but there is one coming up in March '05 that we may need to fill slots in..."

So, they get me all pumped up and ready to go, I let everyone in my family know, my friends, I sell off some stuff and they say "Sorry, nothing for you now." Not that I wanted to go, but I hate getting all prepped up and then told to stand down. Frustrating to say the least.

So, I'm staying here (for a while longer anyway) and gonna get some stuff ready to fly.

Keep all the troops in your thoughs and support. We need it.

Wow duuude... That kinda sux... but in a good way... :D

Glad you don't have to go....
From an ex troop,
All the troops have my support, x2 for you troop and bro.
I'm not PC so I will say it, may God bless you and your family; I'll pray for your safety Jon + the rest of the troops also.

Back down and enjoy if you can.
Man, nothin like the rollercoaster ride from hell!!!

Well, thanks for the willingness to serve.....we apreciate it. :D
Jon, glad to hear you didnt have to go but Im sure it doesnt help knowing that you may be shipped off next year. It's great having guys like you willing to go fight for this wonderful country!

God Bless you Brother.

Now hurry up and get that Wildhare in the air!!!!
Is there something we can do for ya now or when ya get there?
Good luck man :D
in the mean time 3D your nutsack off :D
Yup...the Army man...they'll do it to ya every time. I spent 6 yrs in. Now i'm workin for the Air Force...different ball game dude. I'm gettin packed up for Hawaii right now! (and nothing less than a four star hotel wherever we go when we travel)

hehe, all in good fun. The Army was cool...kinda miss it.
I just want to say thanks for the sacrifices you are making for us.

How much free time do you get while on duty overseas? Enough time to fly? If you do, I have an older 4 channel radio and RX I'd gladly ship to you when you do eventually get shipped out. If it gets destroyed, I don't care. I'd also cut out a foamy and send it, with exgtra foam for repairs. Maybe we can get enough stuff scratched up to keep you going. When you come back, just hand it off to another Bro overseas, or recruit another Bro.

We could start a thread that's kind of a diary of the setup over in Iraq.

Yep, that's the ARMY!! The NAVY would never do that to a guy......They do it to the whol freaking SHIP!!!!!!!
Thanks for the kind words/thoughts guys. It really touches me. I was planning to take a foamy with me, in kit form, then build it when I was there. I wanted be the first Pro-Bro to Hover inside one of Sadam's palaces...that would be too cool.

Anyway, I may get orders this week, next week, next month, next year...I dont know. All I know is now I am definately "Deployable" and could get the call at any time. When I'm at work and Outlook gives me that chime telling me there is new mail, my ass puckers and my sack tightens up too only to find an e-mail that is intended for someone else but I was cc:'d on it.

Gotta love the mind fuck!

Jon
Hey Jon,

Ten year Marine Corps grunt here. Hurry up and wait, that's the motto huh? Lotta water under the bridge since I did Beirut back in '83 and I think and pray for our troops everyday. I am continually amazed at the sacrifices our Armed Forces are willing to make for the cause of freedom and each other.

I too will pray for you, your unit and your family when the time comes. Thank you for your service. Hovering in one of the palaces would be the absolute coolest. Please plan on it if you can make it work.

10 years as a Marine Grunt?

That explains it all now......
Hey Jon,

Sure am glad that you have the extra time to stay here before having to go. A lot could change before you're deployed, and hopefully for the better. I know how it is, having sent my oldest son to Iraq twice now. It ain't easy. We all appreciate the sacrifices that you guys make, and will always have the military and their families in our prayers.

Thanks!
Harold

Quicker, good idea!! I wonder if they're any Bros over there now? Would anyone know who? If we can find out, maybe Billy can do an article in 3D Flyer?

Jon, God bless you and all of our troops.

I spent 9 yrs in the USAF myself.

Don´t worry, ¨W¨has many more invasions planned. You´ll go somewhere eventually
Maybe Kerry can win, then we won't have to invade anyplace...they will invade here and we can fight at home! :D

Good: Jon gets to hang here at home, at least for the winter, hopefully longer!

Bad: He'll miss out on seeing beautiful Iraq...maybe for the winter, hopefully longer!
they will invade here and we can fight at home!

I too spent a little in the Army...Fortunatly for me it was all peace time, But 2 years in Germany could be considered hazardous duty... :drink: Trying to get home at 3 am And then run PT at 6:00 still drunk is kind of dangerous...

Our prayers are with you...
