Well I guess I'm finally going down foamy road. I left the Cookeville meet with a Phoenix 25, a foamy Ultimate and a $20 battery gift certificate. Figure all that must be a message.

After doing some reading I think the motor will be as follows:

Himaxx 2015-4100
6.6-1 GWS Clone Gearbox (Anodized blue aluminum job on All-e-RC)
APC 11x4.7
3s 1200 Etecs (Hi-Output version)

Any comments? Has anyone tried the new gearbox? Will the heat-sink clamp part be useful?

Are the GWS Pico's good to go? Don't know squat on micro servos.

Looking at the GWS Naro 6-ch rx, good unit? I figure if I end up with one of the foamy's with dual ailerons later, the 6-ch would be handy.

the pico servos from GWS are OK and should work fine, but the GWS receivers are crap. Yes they are cheap, but glitch like crazy. If you want a hassle glitching free operation, invest the $$ and get a Berg receiver. Now if you insist in a GWS receiver, I can sell you one.

where can I find more info on the Berg recievers?

I too am a noob at the electric thing. Are there any sites out there that give the basics on foamys? not the plane so much but about the speed control and gearbox ratios.

I have my eye on a tribute to start with, also thinking of just building my own after looking inside the box at the hobby store.

thanks
