OK I just got my Sledge yesterday and got the radio in it -- I was reading the setup instructions from the sledge and it talks about flaperons and spoilerons -- as being new to 3D stuff I am kind of in the dark on this -- I have used flaperons (the ailerons as flaps), but never mixed them with the elevator. I understand the concept of both of them -- I guess my question is how much flaperon/spoileron to mix to the elevator --i.e. if the elevator is at full throw where should the flap be ?? 50%, 75% more less. any help would be appreciated.

I don't know what kind of radio you have; or what exactly you want to do.

But I have a Futaba 6XAS, and have used the flaperon function. It also has an airbrake switch; this is usually programmed with significant down (flaperon) travel. and slight up elevator. I've only used it for really slow harrier type landings.

It takes some time and expirementing to get your mix right, unless your lucky. If you have too much elevator, your plane can/will perform very tight loops. So practice high!

There may be other uses for this type of mixing, that I've only heard rumors of.

On my Sledge, I run 50% Flap travel to Elevator travel. But for Spoilerons I run 75%. I had more Flap percentage (in fact I was running 50% Spoileron/75% Flaperon mix) and Jeff Williams got me to reverse them and it flys a lot nicer. With the Spoilerons set like this, it does the absolute best elevator I've ever seen, effortless. I seem to use the Spoilerons a lot more than Flaperons, the pitch control is pretty good even without Flaperons.

On my Fun Tiger profile I have a Saito 91. More than enough power. Is there a good combo mix for harrier and for hover?

Before I go to the newer 540 I want to practice with what I have. I've heard all the negatives about this plane. However it is recovered beautifully, jumps off the ground, lands like a feather. climbs in a knife edge, rolls like a maniac. Hovering is my immediate goal. The guy I bought if from could hover and torque roll like crazy with it. You could walk over and grab the plane out of the air. He would fly it in his driveway. I'm nowhere near there yet but working on it.

Thanks for the feedback. BJ

Yup, what Chuck said. I didn't discover the elevator characteristic until the third day out, man did I look like a pro! And all I had to do was hold back stick!! Got kinda tired of it though, after like 3000 times!!

And it helps the harrier too. I'm only useing 30%, I'll try more and see if I like it. Have I mentioned I LIKE MY SLEDGE!!!!!!!!!!
