In all the turoil I have lost the inst and the plans for the FF-Taco. What are you doing for the tailwheel / Tail skid ?

Why does it always seem like the last 10% takes about 90% of the work ?

I just used a non-steerable skid made out of 1/16" music wire, not great for taxiing, but I don't taxi much.
Bend up some small dia. music wire sort of like this, drill some small holes in the rudder and zip tie and epoxy to the rudder bottom.
Hope this helps.

I just use a skid attached to the rudder.

Yep, all of mine have had the skid like Pul's picture.

And I agree, getting the balsa glues together and covered is the easy part....But I like the rest better.
Well getting closer I have to say these HS-81MG's are like greased lightning on 6V.

Watch those 81s, the MG may not strip as easy, but the pots go bad fast too. I'm slowly eliminating all my 81s, though I have to admit, some have lasted years. And they are fast
Yes I use 85's in my new taco, but not sure how good they are yet, and just do the wire like Paul shows and you will have no problems, I zip tied mine because they are strong and I was to lazy to sew it on.
when they do go do they give you a chance to save your plane? Or do they just stop working??

Do you mean the 81s? Mine have stripped mostly in crashes or hanger rash, and the pots go slowly; the servo gets twitchy and can't stay in one place, but actually they all flew fine, it's not that they screw things up under load. The majority were in locations that got dirty, but not all.
OK good to know I was sorta worried for a second.

Well anyways I took one of the last steps and mounted the engine today and she balanced out just fine at 1/2" behind the spar. I hope this is in the ballpark.

This whole not having a workshop sucks as I have to dig around for any tools I might need hardware is scattered all about. Ughhh I gotta move to a bigger place.
