Hi bros!!! any ideas of a good motor, battery ,speed control, prop to put in a Mojo???

But first of all do you guys think its possible to do this? I saw the conversion that Billy did and one of a Spider Man Sledge, both were awsome!!!!

Any Ideas???

There's guys here electrofying .40 profiles. Most are using the hacker or outrunners. They fly real good....but the battery pack$ will sting the wallet.
Yes, the packs I'm running in my 40 sized conversion are $90 ea, so $180 for one set of batteries.
$90 for a 5s? Did you build em? That doesn't sound bad at all....
But then again...when I say bad.....I really mean........well you know....
I just started building a Burrito last night. It is going to be electric power. I have a couple 5s4p 8000mah TP packs. They are a bit heavier than I would like but I already have them. I have a 4130/16 Axi motor and a Castle Creations 60 amp controller. I think it would do much better on a 6s3p pack. I e-mailed Thunder Power to see if they could re-configure the packs but they said they are put together pretty permanently. Motocalc says it should still have plenty of power. If it flies fairly decent, I may buy another pack using the new high rate cells and lose a lot of weight off the plane. The pack weighs about a pound and a half. I think I can get the plane under 5 lbs with this pack.

It's been on my mind too. The idea hit me when I flew Pauls demo MOJO. It's really a great plane and I figured it could be lightened. But if it can't get under 4 pounds I wouldn't think it would be worth the $, unless of course you already have the gear, as you do Matt. Sorta like the first time I put a Saito .91 in my .40 sized plane, just 'cause I had it. Now it's all I want!!!
Well... You could start by using a 3/8" CF tube instead of 1/2"... Nix the ply mount up front and substitute with balsa... Use as little hardwood as possible to create a suitable mount...

Then nix all the sheeting on the wing and add a few gussets to the rib to trailing edge joint.....

That should take out about 6 oz.....

Cover it in Solite... That's good for another 3 - 4 oz....

Yeah.. it could be done... I'd just need the gear... :D
I bought a bunch of Ultracoat Light to cover the Sledge with. I'm not gonna get in under 4 lb with 5S packs...I think it would be right at 4lb with the 4S packs....but the extra couple hundred watts will be sweet for a couple extra ounces 8)
Since I am still turfing and running into myself frequently, I prefer the indestructable nature of the Burrito as it comes stock. I could lighten the hell out of it but then I'd have to repair it more often. If it ends up anywhere near 5lbs it will still fly great. I considered doing my Mojo electric instead of the Burrito but I wanted to build my first Mojo straight up stock. Maybe Mojo #2 might go electric. I have even considered building my new Burrito stock and hack up my old one to make the electric conversion. Due to the size of the pack, it will have to mount under the wing so it wouldn't take much to convert it. I'm just not sure I want to be without a Burrito flying for a few days.
Pauly, Are there more MoJo kits available yet? A flying buddy may want one soon.

Alright. Here is my recipe.
AXI 4130 16
Jeti 77 op
6s2p TP
apc e 17x10 prop
That makes 140 oz of thrust and is SICK on a 5 pound plane!
Video to come

It's all on the HL website..

4130/16 / Jeti 77 combo $329.00 14.42 oz motor, couple oz for controller

Radial Mount $28.90 Couple oz??

3S2P TP pack $139 X 2 9.2oz ea

And it's almost as powerful as a 8oz ($256, $400 w/80A controller) Hacker on 5S :D

Sorry, Billy..I love ya bro!
Hobby Lobby is the best!!! lots of thingd of electrics are in there...
Everyone needs an arch rival!

I really wanted you to see that setup at Nashville but the motor pulled itself off the plane.
Chuck
Lets do a price breakdown for both, side by side and see what the numbers add up to.
4130/16 / Jeti 77 combo $329.00 14.42 oz motor, couple oz for controller

Radial Mount $28.90 Couple oz??

3S2P TP pack $139 X 2 9.2oz ea

Total - $635.90

Did you include the gear box in your numbers?
I saw it when the motor came off. 8)

Now quit messing around and put that thing on a 4lb AUW plane so we can see the 3D potential.

Yeah.
AirCraft-World has the Hacker B50 XXS motors for $256. I quoted the CC P80 at $145 just to play Devil's advocate, at 5S a $125 CC P60 would be plenty, you can have over 900 watts in at 55A. I'm running 5S 2600 Irate packs, I cheated and bought loose cells, but that gives me 52A at 10C on tap, 62A at 12C. These packs weigh about 8.5oz ea., cost $90 ea.

So $256 + $125 + $180 You'd still need a $6.25 collet adapter, and you could add a $50 depending on packs I guess.

So not much difference in cost, just lighter.
