Don't trust the advertising blurb

I recently bought a GMS 32 engine. The advertising and the documentation that came with the engine claimed it weighed just 305 grams complete with muffler.

However, when I threw it on my digital scales, it turns out that it weighs 360g with muffler.

60g may not be a hell of a lot (just a couple of ounces) but considering the lengths that some people go to in order to save weight on their 3D ships, I'm not impressed with GMS's porkies.

I wonder how many other manufacturers also stretch the truth a little. I checked my TT engines and they weigh in right on the advertised figure.

thats good to know i almost got one of those because of the weight
sucks to be you :D
is that the w/o muffler weight for real and they just said with muffler :?:
I once bought a 65 inch 7 pound Edge 540T. I had an e-mail from the designer/manufacturer saying that with my engine and radio gear I was looking at 7 to 7.5 pounds. Fucker came in at 9.5 pounds. After composite parts were subbed, and a Dremel sanding drum was worn slap out, I got it down to 8.5 pounds.

I'm still telling myself that if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is...
