Just wondering if there's any Bro's in my neck of the woods. Could use some more flying buddies. Looks like Billy Hell and those guys really have a blast together. I think it would be great if we could scare up a gaggle of guys like that around here. Then we could all show up somewhere and scare the hell out of all the circle jerks. ("You're too low! Two mistakes high! Get in the pattern!")

Sorry, guys I stepped out of the room a few minutes (days) there. I thought that I'd get an E-mail when someone posted here, like I do at Spadworld. I live in Winter Garden which is 12 miles west of Orlando. I don't delong to a club (yet?) . I just go to an open field and fly. I've only been to 3 clubs anywhere near here. The RCACF or whatever it is at Tangerine Field makes you stand at a pilot station and fly East of the runway, which is like 50 feet away. Not very hover-friendly. There's another club in Lake County where I hear the atmosphere is a little more laid-back, but when I go, there's never anybody around. Whick IMHO, makes it a perfect place to fly, but I don't know who to contact about joining. Maybe I should try going on a Sunday next time, but they won't let me fly without an AMA card. I'm not too crazy about the AMA but I guess I'd join if I found a club I liked. So there you have it. I'm basically Dave Brown's worst nightmare, lawlessly flying at an unauthorized facility with a dangerous, often unproven experimental model airplane without benefit of liability insurance, often attempting maneuvers beyond my abilities, even blatantly attempting to cause parts of my aircraft other than the landing gear to come into contact with the ground, with no regard whatsoever of either, the safety of the public at large, or the possible legal ramifications should an accident occur.
But actually, I think I use reasonable caution when flying. A flyaway model is always a possibility wherever you fly, and it is conceivable that someone could be badly injured by one. I try to reduce this risk by flying in unpopulated areas. I usually take off from a lightly travel road which I immediately fly away from. I then start walking away from the road while my plane circles overhead until I feel I'm far enough from traffic. Then I bring it in close, so I can smell the Nitro!

Well I've got a trial membership now, and I've flown at a club field a grand total of 2 times now, at Lakeland with a couple Central Florida Pro- Bro's, Ron F. Bob M. and Kyron, ( don't know his nick) there's Tigman, who I haven't met yet, Stratcat, also not met yet, down Melbourne way, I think, and there's Gator, who's a Florida Bro at heart. There's some Bro's in the panhandle, and some on the Left Coast too, I hear. Hope they all make it to the Lakeland Bro in Jan. When I first posted here, I had just got here from Spadworld, still flying my SPA3D and ddreaming about a Burrito. Now I've got a Saito .72 - powered Burrito and can actually fly it a little bit . Billy Hell said it first, and it's very true for me, if it wasn't for this site, I probably would have given up on 3D by now. Here I learned what to buy, how to set it up, and saw videos of actual 3D flying. Then met some Bro's to fly with, help me fine tune my machine for 3D flight and showed me live and in person how it's done !
Gator, next time you come down, let me know. I can come to Gainesville or we can meet up in Lakeland or some other place. I'd love to see what Gatorcote looks like in real life!

I'm not a real 3D'er yet myself, but I've almost got the basic harrier and hover down! Tried for about 6 months on my own without much progress till I met the guys in Lakeland... amazing what you can do with a little help. I thought I could harrier until I saw what a real harrier was... turns out I was just flyin' slow before! :? My biggest hurdle is my job, which leaves me with hardly any time to fly...it's always dark when I leave and dark when I get home. :( But I got Aero Fly Pro on the way! :rockoncool:
Keep at it' dude... and don't be afraid to ask a more experienced pilot for help.. it's pretty rare for 'em to say no, from what I've seen. When you start flying that Burrito, it will help a LOT if you find a Bro to help you out!

I'm gonna try real hard to be there every Sun. thru Pro-Bro time. Gotta get to wher I can hover with the big dogs by the time all the big dogs get here! I've only been getting to fly one day a week lately, but somehow, I seem to get better each week. Must be practicing in my dreams... :D
