Burrito ?

Well I just ordered a Burrito last night and I am thinking to myself wow, I never built a plane before, this should be interesting. I have a few questions before I get started.

1. Would a chunk of drywall or ceiling tile work for a building board?

2. Do you use thin ca through out the whole plane and expoxy for attaching tail feathers?

3. Is it easy to build?

My only experience is assembling arfs.

Thanks

I used 3/4 inch thick blue foam from Lowe's on top of my table. The pins go in easier. I also have used drywall. You will use epoxy in the build for a few plywood pieces. Other than that, it's mostly CA. It's very easy to build.

One thing I did different on mine was I was too lazy to sand down the aileron stock to make them tapered like the plans say. I went to Hobby Town and got some extra wood and made my ailerons all flat. No taper.
Like Quicker I build on to of a chuck of 3/4" foam that is laid down on top of my building table. Just make sure your table is flat otherwise your foam on top will be just as crooked at the table and that's not good.
I haven't used drywall myself but imagine it would work as well.

I tapered my aileron's, just get yourself a Master Airscrew razor plane and it only takes a few passes and you've got most of the work done, just finish sand them to final shape and your done.

I use CA for most of the construction, you will need epoxy for the CF tube and engine mount. I'm going to try Flex CA for the CF tube to upper and lower fuse like Paul suggests, I've never used it before so I can't comment on how it will work. I did however use wood glue for the sheeting and shear webs. I like to be able to have time to make sure everything is square and in contact. Yes it takes a while to dry so I had rubber bands wrapped around the LE sheet then put the wing back on the table and weighted it down so when it was all dry and cured it was for sure straight and true.

This is by far one of the easiest planes I have ever built! Take your time and pay attention to what your doing and you will do fine.
One thing to pay close attention to is the center rib and section, there are 4 center ribs in the section with slots for the servo rails. 2 are for the center rib on each side of the filler blocks, and 2 are for the outside of the radio bays.
And the big ribs are for your end caps, yes they are oversized so when you have everything glued and sanded you put them on to cap the tips then sand them down to match. A few ppl have made mistakes here and wanted to make you aware of these things.
Don't worry when your done you will have some wood left over, your supposed to, Paul was thinking ahead and added a bit of fudge factor for the occasional screw up.

Hey Scat-r-d! How is that monster Burrito coming? Are you about finished with it?
Hey RB, I'm getting damn close. Soon as I can get finished with the covering and final assembly.
I'm trying to do a nice cover job on it and not being real sucessful. Damn Gator, it's all his fault, if he didn't show up with these damn nice looking planes I could be happy with how mine looked but NO, guess I'll just have to keep working on it and practicing.
I'll post a pic when it get's good enough to deserve one.....
(might take a while)

Hey, I resemble that remark!

I've got mine covered, but it's pretty basic. Definitely will NOT be mistaken for Gatorcote. I'm in awe at some of these Bro's covering skills. Maybe I'll get fancier next time around, but this plane is for "go" not for show! Back to cutting hinge slots now.
Thanks for all the helpfull information. I am going tomorrow to pick up all my supplies, so I will be ready for that bad boy. I'll let you all know how it goes.
