Just got back from my first burrito flight ( and last). took off and got about 15 feet in air then watched as my plane got a mind of its own and started flipping and going crazy right into the barbed wire fence. shreded one wing completley destroyed.
I do not know what happened I rang checked and range checked. Life just sucks some weeks.

Hey Brandon! Tough luck, man. The one thing that I've learned in the several years that I've been flying is NEVER throw anything away for at least a couple of months. The longer it sits there, the easier it looks to fix. :? Pretty soon you'll be fixing the wing on your Burrito and going again! :D

Yeah, I don't think you can get the old wing off, just try to think through ways to splice a new one on to what's left.

Hit Pauly up! He is recognized as a master of repair!! :D

Sorry to hear about the maiden crash. On one hand, at least you didn't crash a plane that was your good ol' pal, been flying for a while. On the other hand your new ride (that probably would have ended up being your ol' pal!) is mulched. Sucks either way.

I thought about trying to splice it all backe together but the wing sheared off right at the root where the cf rod goes trough. The plane was tough as can be though any other plane would have been just dust. but the one wing destroyed (wich is bad enough) is all that happened the fuse and rest of plane are fine.

Sorry to hear that Brandon, it does suck. I know you'd have enjoyed the burrito. Get another one from Paul. If your still single, you have plenty of money for it. You have only lost some time getting there.

Dude!!!

Get hold of Paul. I just saw the very thing you are talking about in his shop. Whole plane was fine, except for the left wing. Got sheared off right at the root from a fence I think. You could see the CF tube and the center rib assembly. Talked to Paul last night, and he has already healed it. Pick his brain man! He is a wealth of knowledge and loves to help people.

Don't write it off just yet, and keep us posted. The Burrito is too much fun to let a sheared wing keep you down.

I just got thru healing one in this exact condition.... The thing came down and hit the wing hard... Sheared it right off at the root.... I first cut some 1/8" x 1/4" slots thru the center sub rib and reattached the chunks of wing spar with a 1/8x1/4 bass doubler. Then I replace the second rib on the chunk of wing that was left..... I had the matching piece of spar that came out of it and got it lined up right on the spar above and below. I used a little probond to reattach the wing and then I resheeted part of the center section.... Wasn't really that hard to fix....

If you've got anything hanging out of the center section that you can scab too, you'll be fine... You could even completely clean off one wing and build another. Just cut a slot for a 1/8" x 1/4" doubler in the center section and in the new wing half. Pro Bond the wing on and make sure to line up the 1/8"x 1/4" doublers to tie into the existing structure.

You can rebuild it... Make it better that is was... Better and fast....

We can rebuild him. We have the technology.
We have the capability to make the world's first Bionic Burrito.
edge540flyer will be that man. Better than he was before.
Better . . . stronger . . . faster.

Try getting your dremel out and cutting a slot just inside of the existing spar. Cut a slot big enough to hold a 1/8" x 1/4" piece of basswood. Make it about 5" or 6" long. Do one for the upper spar and one for the lower. Now you'll have a place to attach the new wing half once you build it.

Brandon, maybe if you post a picture we could put some arrows and stuff on it to help. Basicaly you're trying to get some "cripples" sticking out of the old part to join the new.

YOU CAN DO IT MAN!!!!!!
