Just wonderin'-- how many other Mode 1 flyers are there in the brotherhood?

Personally, I fly both Mode 1 and 2, but have flown Mode 1 much longer and set up all my planes that way.... I keep a Mode2 transmitter with most of my birds programmed into it so others can fly them....

When I was learning how to fly I was taught on mode 1. When I got out of the hobby for a few years and came back I had a hard time finding a mode 1, so I bought a mode 2 and had to basically learn to fly all over again. So I am like you as well and can fly both, but I am now more comfortable with 2.

Well, that's debatable

Yeah, but the trick with Jeremy is to make sure he actually BRINGS the mode 2 tranny with him to the field. Seems he often "forgets" it so us lowly mode 2 scum can't fly his bitches!

LOL :D
John
I know one of the NC bros fly Mode1....but he doesnt usually hangout here.
Cooper (fuelguy) is mode one but he is good at 2 also
in mode one you can do the Quique hover wave
I started with Cox 2 channel mode 1 (elevator on left, ailerons or rudder on right) because that was all I could afford. Can still fly a trainer type in mode 1, but that's about it.

I have not seen you do anything spectacular either!!!!!
Spastic, you're right about the QuiQue wave. Saturday, I was flying a foamy at the field, and a young kid(who is learning to 3d) came over to see my crappy flying. While in a hover, I stuck my hand out and said "shake my hand". It took him a second to realize what was going on.....

Bandito, I'll try not to forget it next time...
I fly Mode 1 but usually like shit  A lot of guys in this area
fly mode 1 if they have been flying 20 plus years. I'm the only bro that flies mode 1 in this area though.
2 of the Cookeville Crew fly Mode 1, J.C. and Tom Polite.

Tom is especially backwards because his ailerons are on his right hand throttle stick. Not sure what that is called other than Bass Ackwards.

The 20 year theory works for these guys, cuz they both have been flying that long. I think in the old days with the old single stick TX's got them flying that way.
But wait a minute...if Quique is flying mode 1 then that takes all the glory out of his one handed hover!

Oh no....Im so dissapointed now!
Am I a dickhead or just slow, or a slow dickhead. Which one is mode one. I fly with rudder and elevator on the left stick and throttle and aileron on right stick.

Like Airjunky says I fly back asswards or mode 1. The 20 theory is probably correct. I have been flying for over 25 years. When I learned about half the people were mode 1. The guy that taught me was mode 1 so that's why I fly it.

The theory was that with mode one you are almost always using both hands (ailerons on the right, elevator on the left) and 2 hands are better than one.
8)

On mode one the throttle and elevator are reversed. Ailerons and rudder are the same.
we have a guy here in Houston that gives up elevator when pushing the stick up instead of down (when we would give down elevator). He said he teached himself how to fly so he thought up was stick up  . He is a pretty good flier though. So I guess to each it's own. At least nobody is asking to fly his birds.
We have a father-son who taught themselves to fly (more than 20 yrs ago) and they also use "down" elevator to go up. The dad has taken to flying helis, but I've never seen him bring one out, not sure if he uses the same for fore-aft cyclic or not :D

The son had a brief and painful Ultra Light period, maybe old habits on the elevator are harder to break than collarbones??
One of my friends does the backward elevator thing. He taught himself to fly, and started that way. I have been trying to convince him to change and I think he finally is. :D That way I can fly his planes and he can fly mine.

Me, I am a mode 2 flyer. I think it would be easier to 3d with mode 1, but I doubt I will make the switch.

You are mode 1...

mode 2 is where the throttle and rudder are on the left, elevator and ailerons on the right....

Now you wanna talk messed up...try mode 3 ailerons elevator LEFT, throttle rudder RIGHT....screwy!!!
Mode 1 rulez! (well for most type of aircraft anyway)

With mode 1 you get no thumb-induced coupling between aileron and elevator inputs. Mind you, for 3D stuff where rudder is *very* important, it might be better to fly mode 2 where there's no unwanted finger-induced coupling between rudder and elevator.

Most mode 2 fliers I know say that it's "more natural" because your right stick acts just like the control stick in a full-sized airplane. But... how many full-sized pilots do you know that fly with their thumb on top of the control-stick anyway?

Horses for courses dudes. Whichever mode spins your wheels is fine by me.
