I'd recommend starting out in 3D mode, that way you don't have to re-train your left thumb after 20 years of bad habits (ask me how I know).

#1134 to be exact. Just ordered a morris hobbies "the knife". I am new to rc (May of this year) and I'm going to give the 3D profile flying a shot. 8)

Sounds like good advice, hopefully within the last 6 month I hav'nt formed any bad habits. By the way, do most use there thumbs only? "Thumbs" is just the general term...lots of people use a thumb/finger combo, but still call it thumbs.
But the important thing is using both sticks all the time, sounds like you have a good plan!
