Hey guys.

I renewed my AMA yesterday online. It has you jump through a few hoops. One of them is you are supposed to read the saftey code and agree to it.
#9 under radio control was only this.

"No person may touch a powered model in flight"

Did I miss something? Is the dangerous art of tail tapping allowed again?

The header on the page says it's the 2003 Code. I'm sure that the EC did not give up the #9 rule that easy.

However, if you read DB's column, you will see that he is feeling the pressure from various SIGs.

If you have not already...

For $5, your voice is added to others to keep pressure on DB and the EC to make rules that are a little more carefully worded, and fair.

We even got Chip Hyde signed up, and if we are good enough for Chip, we are good enough for Pro Bros too.

Please help out by adding your name. It would be a blessing to add all 550ish Pro Bros to the I3D list.

OK, that's the end of the sales pitch...

I'm not sure of the "non-pay pal" procedure for the $5, but Tony is sure to be.

[email protected] is his e-mail address.

The 2003 Code is there because somebody dropped the ball. It's funny to me how a rule was created and passed quietly in July, or something, and then not posted as part of the renewal "I agree to this" statement.

I wonder just how enforcable this rule really is right now? It would be pretty easy to say I never have seen it, and perfectly true to say I've never heard it.

I noticed the same thing when I reluctantly renewed my AMA online
But when I got my new card in the mail the otherday a little card inclosed HAS the new rules @#$%&^&$#!!!!
But you are correct as when I renewed I agreed to the old rules and NOT
the new ones ,however I dont think it would hold up in a court of law ,However I could be wrong? any lawers out there????

HI everyone...

Just curious. Has anyone here written the AMA regarding this matter? I'm no lawyer, but have studied torts (read personal liabilities) and some other law working in the security firld. IMO, if you signed up for the ama agreeing to the 2003 rules which is what you read and were under the impression that those rules were current. You should write AMA noting this fact and make them clarify. If they don't I would say you're covered. If I had signe dup unde rthe old rule and they sent me the new ones, I would write demanding the rules I signed up for, or refund my membership.

That being said, when you ask for this clarification, I don't think it matters how ambigious or rude you are :D (IOW if you write some ppl in ama a rude scathing letter, thye're more UNLIKELY to respond at all :D ) Been there done that. GO BROS!

I bought 2 years back when I got my 2003 (late 2002). I figured the dues would increse in 2003 and tried to get a grandfathered $58. Of course the dues didn't go up, but I haven't even read any rules. Ignorance of the law is no excuse, but they are gonna have to catch me, try me, and convict me before I'll admit to anything!
