Hi guys, awsome community you have here. I just viewed the video of 27 planes hovering. I have major wood, and I don't mean balsa...lol.

Anyway I have two questions.

1) Anyone ever use Pre-Flight Simulator? They are listed on ebay for $30.00. Wondering if they would be good to learn 3D.

2) I have a new mvvs 45 on a new thunder tiger extra. Morris Hobbies recommended a tuned pipe for the engine. It is a little over 13" long. Is this a good idea for hovering or 3D in general? Silencer or no silencer, that is the question. :)

Thanks in advance for replies!

Welcome aboard brotha!

1) I would recommend Aerofly Pro for practising and learning 3D only. You can find that at:
www.aeroflypro.com

2) Well a tuned pipe is not widely recommended for 3D but it can work. Generally it depends widely on what pipe it is. And coming from Morris I can tell you that you're in good hands. They won't sell you something you can't use. I use a tuned pipe on my competition fun fly and the problem is only that on the lower side of the rev range the motor climbs on and off the pipe. But most of the time you will be hovering much higher than this point so it doesn't bother at all. Get the pipe, like I said if morris says it will work, it will!
1) AFP is the only way to go if you wana 3D. Dont touch anythin else, and no matter what anyone tells you REflex XTR is over rated and overpriced.

just IMHO.

1) I played with an older version of Pre-Fligh Sim a while back, I wasn't impressed. If you're looking for a cheapo flight sim, take a look at FMS which is free. You only need to build an interface (not hard and all the parts can be obtained at radio shack). Physics-wise it ain't perfect, but it's free.

2) The TT Extra is a little heavy. Your 45 will probably need the "mini-tuned" pipe to hover it effectively (I'm guessing that's what Robert was trying to sell you). A friend of mine had the same plane and an OS 46 FX could barely hover it with the stock muffler. Switched over to a Tower Hobbies muffer and it did OK. When you start hovering and such, you wanna make sure that you've got enough thrust coming off your engine to get you out of those inevitable bad situations.

Good luck
and use a 12.25x3.75apc prop or a 12x4apc if you cant get the first one :D
I appreciate all the info! This place rocks!
The third piece of advise that you'll want is to start looking for your next profile now. First of all your going to outgrow the one you have now and second of all one profile is never enough. And you will be amazed at how much more some of the other profiles are capable of.

I said that in a nice way right?
