Shit! I'm still short ribs for a Skeeter 36 I bought from you. Guess I'll have to cut the fuckers by hand ...

Good luck with the foam.

I also am competing in a market that is dominated by ARFs. Companies like 3DH get loads and loads of ARFs with low unit costs. Except for the Skeeter 30, all of my electric kit sales have dropped to the point where I needed to change the game. I think the Skeeter 30 will live on forever. I better teach my oldest son how to make that kit.

Thanks,

Q

That's what's it's all about, FUN. Glad to hear you're having fun with it again. We'll miss the other planes, but thankfully we can scratch them out and you're planes are pretty to scratch build.

Long live the Skeeter 30.

With foam we don't have to spend hours covering the plane. :D

And this is a GREAT example of what's been happening. Sheets missing parts, miscuts, etc.

That sucks. There's nothing like personally handling Quality Control. If going foam will permit that then it makes perfect sense to me.

So here's my question. When will you design a foamy that flies like the venerable and popular Skeeter 30? Is it even possible to duplicate a plane that good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I did. The foam 36" SU-26. I like it, but some don't because the fuse is Depron, so I'm working on one that the fuse is EPP.

Here's an idea Q, have you tried making foam winged balsa birds? Make a stick based fuse rather than laser cut and then put a foam wing on it. No laser parts for someone to screw up - all in house, and you get the wood fuse still. I think more people don't like foam fuses as opposed to foam wings.

When are those skinned foam planes avaliable?

I was about to pull the trigger on a DW BAF foamy but now I might want to wait for one of these.

Those are nice but I want something bigger. 45-70 inch is going to be interesting.

Q,

I don't see the Skeeter 30 on the Kalteisen site anymore. Is it gone now too? I really wanted another kit of it.

Q,

The Skeeter 30 isn't shown on the website anymore.

If you're keeping it around, why is it not on the website? Out of stock?

Posted Sep 22nd. on RCG
Quicker wrote:It's sad for me to say that until further notice I'm ending manufacture of the Skeeter 30, too. The laser cutting alone just got bumped to over $22/kit. That's $22 for a 30" little plane that does not have that much cutting in it anyway.

I got blindsided by my cutter on this last shipment. I just barely broke even on the last batch of orders. It's simply not worth the time unless I double the price of the kit and nobody will pay $70 for the kit.

I'll be pulling it from the site today.

Constrictor has like a dozen of them. Just PM him and break his balls to let some of them go.

Just Kidding, but it would be funny for everyone to start PM'ng him to bust his chops.

www.valuehobby.com just dropped his price on the little Sabre 35 to $60. I know its not a Skeeter but that's a damn good price for that plane and it flies pretty damn well.
