Critique the EVO cap please!

This plane doesn't need the CG to be aft of neutral to do 3D. It has plenty of tail authority and hovers just fine with a neutral CG.

It was flyable with the aft CG, but it wasn't fun. It was much better at neutral CG.

Tail heavy planes also don't roll worth a shit, they tend to pop up at the worst times

Mo actually encouraged me to fly his EVO Cap at BeaverBro  First impression was the entire slab is hella stable, as far as no flex anywhere, huge flight envelope, will do anything you ask, and performs amazing walls :drunk:
Mo is a bit of a perfectionist, neutrally balanced, strong swervos with a piped OS 75AX on the nose
Wicked combo, thanks Mo :drink:

You're welcome J, any time.

It is still at the top of my fun list.

I'd call it past the point at which the plane is hands off both upright and inverted. At that point the plane tends to wander in pitch and doesn't respond well to snaps, spins, or tumbles. Rollers also get worse.

I think in the early days when wing loadings were higher and the average skill level of the bros was lower, tail heavy helped people hover and torque roll. That was the thing to do back then so people started saying that aft CG was good. Now that tech has gotten better and I'd say that average skill levels are up, that is no longer true.

Good food for thought. I have some experimenting to do with CG. It will be interesting to see what that brings :drink:
