ok, doug sent me plans but i asked for wrong ones! he sent me 40 size, i needed little one. so, opened plans pdf at 25%, measured and multiplied by 4, got the basic fuse.

cut out where the wing, mount, stab mounts are gonna be. save these cutouts, they are the patterns for the balsa/ply mount ans balsa stab saddle. simple, huh?

fuse pretty much done. will inlay tube after mount areas installed. flip it, draw out 1 for your buddy, draw a few more for the heck of it. draw 1 on cardboard for future builds.

We be watching each move,steady hands on that cutting. Much better than plug cut. Cant wait to see wing cut.

use them long snap knives. blade will dull fast. make 2-3 cuts to get through. easy.

staying cheap, used 1/8 utility ply to make a mount core.

cleaned up lines a little making 3/16 cheeks, then used them to make future mount cores. the cheeks extend 1/8" lower than core where tube is.

line up top and firewall area, epoxy together, take break and post pics!

flipped around clothespins are the best! just take apart and reassemble backwards. like tweezers, and el cheapo!

carve/sand a groove in mount and stab mount. i shoulda marked end of tube on stab mount, didn't need to groove whole thing. but since mount 1/2 and tube 1/4, poly glue will fill in.

how to get it straight? nail it on a straight line. i drew around a 3/16 sheet to locate stab mount above centerline,

put wax paper down first!

no, in an 8x12 shed! will have to go on boat to get good charger with the foam cutter setting.

fuse will bend as needed, it's only decoration. glue/pin to mounts. i'll cut tube in later.

since both arrows i got have been cut and i aint going wal mark on a saturday afternoon, that's all till tomorrow morning.

so, started on wing. root template as shown with run on/out extensions. round edges slightly, run thin ca along edges, sand lightly again.

edit- decided not to change airfoil on these, want to keep similar performance. might on later versions.

cut slabs right size, mark centerline at corners. pin on rib templates.

set cutter at 1.6 amps.

put some light weight on panel. if it slides you pulling too fast.

voila!

cut other, glue and tape together. all left is t.e. and finish sand.

faster, tougher, as light as balsa. will get 3 wings out of a 16-1/2 x 4' slice of foam. that's 15 wings for 20 bucks. the fuse is packing from ikea style bookcases.

I'm trying to remember what the ultralight 35% Extra 260 was that the Dalton design was based off of?

It was something like 23-24 lbs. with a DA100 on cans and used foam ribs for the wings and tail.

Looks like another great foam build. Keep them coming WF! I went to the lumberyard last weekend and bought a good sized pile of foam. hopefully I can turn that foam into something as neat as you do.
