and i thought the slick 48 was, about as good as it gets. you two might be splitting hairs. the builder and setup counts to. i like them all,and learn each time i build. if you built three the same type, would they fly alike. with two master builders adding there own touch, one bound be bit better. could there be,as good as it gets. ill take the culls, with a smile.

I think the ultimate bro trick would be a 48" trifecta of awesome, in a Su29, Edge 540, and a Laser....

I may need more balsa....

And time. :(

balsa can be bought, time is always short, and im getting slower. how bout best 48 or so,nitro for new guys.easy to build, strong, easy to make me look good,if that can be done. thats why i wish to start with mojos, seemed like a good start. so, slicks next i ask. pros move on,we watch. wf what about that south america balsa trip. you and capthis go together, that would be a story. might as well add d r, to show the way. thinking about a buddy, said he needed a fishing partner,i said, you have 20 ft boat, take your wife. he said, boat ant that big.

yep, one driving the boat, one hammerd, one floating on balsa log, talking shit. well never get our balsa logs. jokes aside,4 logs be worth alot of cash, could it be done, and make money. them gas pulled them planes great, how much they weigh. i ask because of mojos, bet they will be bit over 6 pounds with gas.

I cut parts without really considering the big picture. I’m either missing something or there is a mismarking of thickness here. Why would the rudder post be 1/4 and the other cut parts be 3/8? I’m assuming the rest should be 1/4 as well?

sand taper into fin. preferably sand offset, too. it's made like a lamyak... cappy had at least a few good ideas...

are discussions on fin offset/taper here. i can explain, if you need. look at lamyak build thread, i think it's explained there.

Sanding to make the fin match makes sense. But why are the top and lower TE pieces 3/8. Maybe I’m just a tard but I can’t make that be right?

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=26246&p=511126&hilit=fin+offset#p511126 has a post where i explain. fin should be 3/8, rudder 1/4. i use 1/2 fuse and fin, 1/4 rudder but same theory.

top and lower are wrong, they should be 1/4. cappy cut kits made a mistake! fin 3/8, rudder 1/4. he f-ed up!

Chris goofed when he labeled parts. It’s supposed to be 1/4

Not a big deal. A pass through the saw and they’re 1/4. Just wanted to be sure I wasn’t missing something.

I’ve been considering motors for this build. I have a Hacker A30-14v2 in my stash. I’m no expert when it comes to E set ups, I usually copy someone’s successful efforts. Not a big deal to get something else but if this is a decent choice I’d like to use it. I’ve pasted the specs to the current version of this motor below. Should I use this or something else? If something else then what?

Hacker A30 14L Outrunner Brushless Motor V4
A30 Outrunner Series
A30 14L V4
Kv (rpm/V) 800
Max Power (W) 500W
Max Amp (15sec) 35A
Max Efficiency 85%
Io (No load A) 1.6A
Rm (Resistance) 0.033Ohm
Shaft Diameter 5mm
Motor Diameter 37.2mm
Motor Length 39mm
Motor Weight 143g
Built in Fan Yes
Max Rpm 18,000
Poles 14
Case Outrunner
ESC Timing 20-25 deg
ESC Switching Freq. 8-16kHz

Yes it's a typo on my part. Can't expect too much when I drew them for free.

I am using an Exceed Rocket 3015-1020 on mine - the same one C/F is using on the pink one that flys so awesome.
Yes, 4S and a 12X6 is REALLY pushing that motor, but as Mike has proved, the motor can take it.
I'd look for a motor with those specs. Hooks recommended to me the 1 oz heavier Exceed 3020 motor and those are readily available so I bought one, but have not used it yet.

Some on here may have had great luck with the Hacker motors - not me... I don't even push my motors like most Bro's and I had tons of problems - Syncing, Bearings, the motor getting TERRIBLY hot, and overall I felt it was cheap and have only used Motrolfly since. I'd have put a Motrolfly on my CCK, but mike had such great performance from the Exceed Rocket so that's why I went that way instead of Motrolfly.

Another note I found with the Hackers (TriFlyer3D) always had great luck with them, but he was always using the chinese ESC's. If you are using Hackers, definitely go with a Chinese ESC and not a Castle. My experience is that the Hackers do not communicate worth a crap with the Castle ESC's, and I've seen Bro's loose planes due to it... Not good..

That would work. Hacker says 14x8 on 3S at 51A. I'd probably go 13x7 or 8 on 4S as a starting point. They rate them for WOT for the whole flight. Talon 60 probably a good match.
