The GD-19 looks great!

I found a GD-19 on RC Groups, but the guy wants $50 shipped for it, so I passed. I was hoping to find one for about $30 shipped. Is that realistic? Or are these old antiques really worth $50?

The cool factor of this tread is really off the chain. I'm wondering when Jim T. is going to do a tooled leather wrap?

I would jump on it. I haven't seen one for sale in a long time, over a year

JR's ad in the latest issue of Model Aviation shows a "vintage" new transmitter in a Heathkit looking case.

Since I'd probably only use the conversion as a novelty transmitter for foamies, I was thinking about using the electronic guts from a DX6i, or maybe an old DX7. A DX5e might be more appropriate since it only has one model memory, and the reversing switches and dual rates would move the old Heathkit up into the Kraft Signature Series class of that era.

you could, but it's been done... now, taking one of these, and stuffing a 5955 in it... that'd be cool! :rockoncool:

years ago, I bought 3 junk boxes for 15 bucks at the (I think?) joe bayer swap meet...electrician co., c/f was there, I remember, had a barnstormer ulti, I think.

anyhow, there was a red ek logictrol setup in there, wish I still had it! was also a 3 line ureely c/l handle and some jetex stuff!

that's really the only reason I wanna go to perry, the old junk boxes.

Where is the sign up for a table, I need to be able to get in early for deals n stuff

Evidently you can make real money buying obselete cardens for 1000, sell the airframe for 850, motor for 650 , servos 400, then act offended at reasonable airframe offers

Flew the Heathkit today. Probably the first flight on it in 35 years. :rockoncool:

These old transmitters are cool and are fun to get running again, but they don't compare to modern radio without some sort of major gimbal rework.

Back when good servos were accurate to within a few degrees, the old ball joint stick gimbals were OK. Now with high precision digital servos, those old ball joint stick gimbals would no doubt feel really sloppy.

True, but if someone stuffs their plane with $3 servos, they will probably never know the difference.

Flipping through the April MAN, I ran across a JR ad and asked myself what Johnny's radio was doing in their ad...

Sure would like to have a Futaba FASST Tx in an old 6-channel gold box.
