Spektrum receiver selection

PostPosted: Mon Aug 17, 2020 7:25 pm

I started going through my pile of old receivers that I salvaged from the fire a couple years ago. I don’t have any left that I can trust so I need to buy a few. I looked on Horizon site but didn’t find much in the basic 6 channel receiver. They’re pushing the AS3X stuff as well as the higher priced new telemetry stuff I don’t need. The only one I found is one of the new Sport line receivers with internal antenna and no diversity. Heard several people complaining about losing planes on those so I’m not interested in any of those.
What is still available that’s not too hard on the wallet?

Matt,

I've got 3 AR500's (DSM2) that are basic 6 channel with dual aileron inputs. I got them from a place in China (I can't remember the name) on recommendation from Jake, and they've all worked wonderfully. I'm not using spektrum much anymore (went back to my Futaba roots :D ) Shoot me your address and I'll send them to you if you're interested. I've also got a bunch of Oranges and Lemon's if you'd like as well.

Matt, I have been using Lemon and Admiral RX's. Both are DSMX protocol. Motion RC has a good selection of the Admiral's. I have had no issues(so far) with either.

Buy the Lemon receivers direct. They usually arrive in a week. Been using them for years. The only thing I do is add a little hot glue to the antenna port on the board so they don’t come unplugged. Tight fishing them receivers into sailplanes and sometimes I tug on the antennas... :tu:
Interesting that you’ve read guys having problems with the new sport receivers. I had read nothing but good about them, a buddy bought half a dozen, not a single issue...

ya I've got a few of the AR620's and they seem fine, but I don't fly them a ton.

On the lemons, which ones are you guys using? I have one of these in a drawer...is this the one or which one?

I run several of the cube spectrum ar620 receivers. No problems, one is stuffed into a glider under a battery warped in some carbon. The telemetry will report on range and signal performance
