Slick 360-35 updated build thread

PLEASE DON’T POST IN THIS THREAD
This will be the build thread for the updated Slick 360-35. It is just a little different from the original but I thought it would be a good idea to do a new build thread. Besides, that gives me an excuse to build another one. :D

Current plans. Everything marked *CNC* will be a CNC cut part.

Cut the 1/4” center rib & doublers out of the sheets & sand off the holding tabs. Glue a doubler to each side of the center rib.

From the 1/8 sheets remove the spars & from the 1/16 sheets remove the ribs, leading & trailing edges, wing tip gussets & servo wire exits. Sand off all holding tabs.

DON’T SKIP THIS STEP!
It is very important to sand all spar and rib slots to get a good slip fit. Don’t sand until the slots are loose, just an easy slip fit.
Once you get all the slots done the wing will go together without having to force anything.
I leave the slots a little snug because balsa varies in thickness and you want a good fit here.
I use a 6” steel scale with sandpaper glued to the back for sanding the slots. You can also use an Emory board.

Slide the main and rear spars onto the center rib assembly. Pin onto the plan or use blocks to hold everything in place and wick in some CA.

Working from one end to the other a little at a time slide the 1/16 leading and trailing edges into place, don’t glue yet!

Set the wing back over the plan and check the leading and trailing edges for proper location. The trailing edge should line up with the back of the ribs. I also like to use a straight edge to make sure it’s straight. Glue the trailing edge.

Now check the leading edge using one or the 3/16 square sticks. The stick should make contact with the front of the rib and also the front of the 1/16” leading edge. Once you are happy with the location hit it with some CA.

Sand the center ribs as needed to match the trailing edge. Also very lightly run your sanding block along the trailing edge to make sure there are no high spots. Find the 3/16 X 3/8 stick (trailing edge) and cut it in half. Sand the ends as needed so they match up well at the center. Now glue the trailing edge in place. Do the same for the leading edge using a 3/16 sq. Stick.

Take one of the 1/4” square sticks and cut 4 pcs for the center section. These will also serve as servo rails on the bottom.
Glue these in place and make sure the front ones contact the spar.
At this point you can also remove the spar tabs.

Box in the servo bays using 1/4 square sticks and the two 1/8 CNC cut rib doublers. Also add the servo wire exits.

Find the two 1/8 square sticks and cut in half. These are for the leading edge, insert into the rib slots and glue.

Trim and sand the wing ends flush, add the wing tips and gussets.
The wing is now ready to sand, just knock off the high spots and round off the leading edge.
You can also go ahead and bevel the trailing edge for the ailerons.

Let’s build some ailerons.
Remove the aileron leading edges from the 3/16 cut sheet and remove the tabs.
Pin the leading edge over the plan, I like to use a straight edge to ensure it is straight. Also pin down the trailing edge.
Don’t forget the wax paper or whatever you like to use to keep from gluing everything to the plans.

Using a 3/16 sq stick fill between the leading and trailing edges then use a 1/16 X 3/16 stick for the diagonals.
