Yep I'm suprized at the setup.

Mine's tail moments are half as long. They'll hover all day but TR don't happen too often because an upright hover takes full down elev.

Dave how did your cg turn out with the wing so far forward?
Mine is where its at soley for Cg

I've got the CG on the Slow Stick at 3 3/4" from the leading edge. At this spot it will cruise along hands off at a slow throttle setting, but will climb with excess power. This CG also lets it flare out for a slow landing. And as you can see, true hovers and torque rolls are possible.

I have to admit the slow stick looks pretty cool on floats.

It was completely dead calm. Like lunar calm. I felt kids guilty for putting it on the water because it was a crystal mirror. But I couldn't let it go to waste.

I figured you guys would enjoy it too.

Yep, they will be homemade, but blue instead of pink.

In fact, I need to make some slow stick snow skis too.

http://www.horizonhobby.com/float-set%3 ... lp-hbz7390

This is what I used. Got them for $20 at the lhs

Very nice and light and the perfect size. Slightly bigger and MUCH better quality than the GWS float KIT for the same price.

I just used two sets of the stock gear legs. Works great.

I did have to extend the axils to get a good bite on the set screws but I just did that with aluminum fuel tank tubing which fits the gear leg axils perfectly.

I've used them in snow, grass an I've. Rocks too. They haven't broken or punctured yet. Zero maintenance in a years work. Nice.

All right, your winners for round one are in!

Pro class:

McDDD
Jason
Busted Slab

Bro class:

Basmtdweller

Goofy

Evan Shadix!

Good work everyone! I'm especially impressed to see both Jason and Busted Slab beating out two FAG class pilots! Always fun to see that happen!

Both classes will go into a three way battle to determine first second and third. New videos are due in by the end of the weekend and then I'll post them up. Good luck!

I'll add that cutting your own can be easy and fun but a sheet of the foam will cost you more than the cub LP float set. You'll need to cover or use packing tape on them to make them slippery in the water. You could also glue on plastic on the bottom from front to the step from a milk jug or 2ltr soda bottle.
You'll have to measure for length and step and make them wide enough to float high enough in the water.
Its all easy enough but for $25 you can't beat the prebuilt cub LP's. The stance is right with the included hardware and wires. Very stiff and nice. They are also V bottoms so they track much better and steer easier without a water rudder than flat bottoms.

But if you want to cut your own

Floats should be 75% of the fuse length
The front of the floats should be at or 1" longer (infront of) the prop
The step should be 1-1.5" behind the CG and 0.5-0.75" deep.
For a 16oz slow stick I'd make them 2.5" wide from front to step
1" tall at the front and 1.5-2" tall at the step.
