Kinda, but not really a heli.

Grabbed this at the hobby shop today. Flew around inside the house tonight. It flys excellent and stable. I see it being a hoot outside!

You're a cj.....
These three letters. I'm sure you seen them used by me elsewhere.

EAD
Doesn't change that you are a cj lol
Cheaper than a sim. I've gotta get my thumbs and brain communicating again.

Flew it down the street and burnt three batteries buzzing around the high school. 5 to 10 mph breeze, and it handled it well. It's only a three axis gyro, so it's not completely locked in. It is however pretty damn fast for a quad this size, yet very forgiving. When in doubt gas it, and it climbs very level. Pirouettes aren't as fast as some I've seen, and the only way this model will flip is with what Ares class a "flip mode" button. All in all, I'd recommend it for a first quad. Battery flight time is about 9 minutes, and I will be picking up a few more.

Another 50 bucks would have gotten you a full on 250 race quad with a damn good flight control board, another hundred could get you a decent fpv system...just sayin...
Didn't want a race quad, or an FPV setup. Got what I wanted.... Just sayin.

have you ever flown a race or acro quad? I am just trying to help people not waste money trying to get into multirotors when a few more bucks can get you something that is fully programmable and flies 10x better (literally 10x better, the control loop on a $15-20 board will loop a minimum of 10x more per second than the board in that, in fact it's probably closer to 100), with an option to upgrade later on. To each their own, I just know that when I got that exact unit it was put in a corner a week later and never flown again, yes I am speaking from personal experience as well as the experience of many customers I know personally. I hope you enjoy it, it was definitely fun, but it's not going to be aerobatic enough or for that matter tough enough for a typical bro. I did not intent to give you attitude and if you would like to move on to something a bit more robust later on I would be more than happy to point you to some awesome shops and threads I have personally stickied for toilet reading.

Care to post these $150 and $250 quads?

Could they be flown well with a 6ch radio?

This will be the only quad I purchase. More into helis and slabs. I do appreciate the concern for wasted money, but I was into finding a rtf (simple) small quad that I could buzz around the house, and possibly during fuel stops etc at work. I won't get into aerobatics with it like I do with my other stuff.

6ch is perfect. You have some 3s or 4s 1300 right?

frame: $18 http://www.valuehobby.com/multicopters/ ... frame.html
motors (4): $27.60 total (2) http://www.valuehobby.com/multicopters/ ... motor.html and (2) http://www.valuehobby.com/multicopters/ ... motor.html
flight controler: $19 http://www.valuehobby.com/naze-6dof.html
Power distribution board: $5.90 http://www.valuehobby.com/5v-control-board.html
Props: $1.50 per set, buy as many as you can afford  http://www.valuehobby.com/multicopters/ ... p-set.html
ESCs (4): $48 total http://www.readytoflyquads.com/20a-littlebee-esc

BAMM!!! $120 for a non FPV LOS quad. Keep in mind there are lots of better quality stuff on the market, but this would be a pretty decent starter package.

now for FPV gear:

camera and video transmitter package: $28.99 http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-CCD-700 ... 77402.html
Video receiver: $19.99 http://www.banggood.com/Eachine-FPV-5_8 ... 75426.html
Goggles: I love these things $55.79 http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/stor ... _Kit_.html

Standard dipole antennas that are included with the transmitter and receiver will be ok for starting out and flying close in, but you will want to upgrade later.

$104.77 for video gear.

thats $224.77 for everything, add $20 in shipping and you are still under $250.

Assuming you have a 2.4 TX and RX plus batteries you will have a decent little setup that will blow any mass production toy out of the water, and be far more aerobatic and speedy.

Well.......... I guess I'm gonna have to get the salt and pepper. I'm eating those words.

I know I spent more than I would have building one, but I hate learning through building first, and I needed another transmitter for cheaper 2.4 receiver gear. With an extra battery shipped was under $200.

Cappy hates quads so I think that kinda like him rolling his eyes at you for owning one.
He'd be hooked if he flew one. I wasn't to sure about them, and I'll have a few before it's over, along with a few slabs.
