Yeah, I hold the two edges together and make a mark with a fine point pen on each, and then make each mark into a line. The darker the line, the easier it is to see through the hole with the crappy lighting in my shop.
I usually have to close one eye, and then the other, to make sure the line is centered in the jig.

O.K. makes sense. I was using a pencil. Guess I'll try a fine point Sharpie. That should work, and the mark will be drilled away anyway!

Thanks for the responses guys!

If you havent started the build yet, the best way ive found to drill robarts is to lay the leading edge of the control surfaces against the trailing edge of the main surfaces and drill them both through at the same time, guaranteed alignment. Lightly sand the hinges to remove possible moulding release agent, then drop a tiny drop of any kind of oil ( i use otherwise useless after run oil) onto the hinge center via a pin. and flex to get into the joint then glue. These are a bit more work but you end up with strong hinges that arent sloppy, and they are nearly friction free. You would be surprised how much power CA hinges take away from most people underpowered anyway servos.
