OMP 80" Edge on Gas

OMP 80" Edge on Gas

PostPosted: Thu Sep 22, 2011 2:26 am

I notice on the OMP website, the 80" Edge calls for a gas engine that can be beam mounted.
The MTE engine they sell doesn't look like it has beam mounts.

Is there a thread, or does anyone know how would you mount the MTE or a DLE engines for instance, and is the plane beefed up for gas, or is it built the same for gas as it is for glow?
I've emailed OMP but didn't get a response.

Besides Wrongway (Don't have the time to build), are there any other 30cc ARF's out there?

Thanks for any help
Bob

Use angle brackets.

Thanks.
So are you saying that the standard issue OMP 80" Edge will handle a gas engine with the existing structure if angle brackets are added?

I have a picture of one but don't know how to get the image here.

Thanks for threply

Bob, welcome to the Probro site!
:welcome:

Give it some time, and eventually someone will find this thread who has already converted a large profile to a engine without beam mounts.

Angle brackets will work. Others have built a firewall in order to use the post mounts.

Your choices are going to be limited for a 30cc size profile, especially an ARF.

RcDDD --> Thanks for the welcome. I've actually been a member since 2007, but was in Iraq for awhile, and then busy with building and flying UAV's here in the states. Then the Bro site was gone for awhile wasn't it?

Thumbs --> Any pictures or build threads around on your or other conversions?

Thanks guys

Yep, bad to the bone. Plus you can order them with beam mount/ears as well as standoffs. Here's one on Chips303's EEV2.

"Chips303" is the guy's screen name.

EEV2 is the name of the plane.

dookieshoot and HazzBro

I pulled the trigger and ordered the 80" OMP, and a Syssa with the beam mount.
Todd and I spoke on the phone for quite a long time and he's going to drill the
beams so I can mount it in the OMP. He's very helpful and didn't mind spending
time with me even though he has a small shop and he is sort of the Chief Cook
and Bottle Washer.

I'll look around for some threads on the Syssa so I can do some reading before it gets here.

Thanks guys
Now I have a project goin...
