Doesn't have to be anything official just sounds fun to me to have a fun day of flying on a Saturday at a club that won't kick us out! :) :) :)

I've communicated with the Atterbury club (my local flying club) officers and worked out some details. Here's the skinny for what Cappy has dubbed the: 2017 CENTRAL INDIANA PRO BRO

DATE: SATURDAY, 06 MAY 2017
RAIN DATE: SATURDAY, 13 MAY 2017 (Cappy or I will notify the Brothers via this thread if the Rain Date is needed)

LOCATION: JOHNSON COUNTY RADIO CONTROL FLYERS field, more commonly known as "Atterbury" because it is located just north of the US Army Camp Atterbury complex.

ADDRESS: 3496 EAST AIRPORT ROAD, NINEVEH, INDIANA 46164

WEBLINK TO A MAP: https://www.google.com/maps/dir//39.363 ... a=!3m1!4b1

A few common sense notes:
1. You must have AMA membership to fly.

2. You must abide by the AMA Safety Code when flying.

3. This is not a formal fly-in event, this is just bunch of us 'Gentlemen' gathering together for some fellowship and flying. So, we don't and won't own the field for the day. There may be one or two other club members there, flying. This field is very 3D friendly, but if there is another club member "flying the pattern", be considerate with your 3D flying regime.

4. Obviously, no flying over the pit areas

A little bit about the field:
1. Asphalt runway, about 600 feet long and 50 feet wide. There is an adjacent grass strip, but the grass is normally cut pretty long.

2. Full Restroom facilities will be available. Don't drink the water. It's clean enough, but I wouldn't drink it!

3. The clubhouse will be open. There is 110volt AC power available inside and outside the clubhouse. Recommend you bring an extension cord and a power strip if you need power - and share the outlets if necessary.

4. Fly what ever you want.... Profiles, Gliders, Scale, War Birds, EDF jets, Choppers, Autogiros, gas, glow, e-powah, whatever. The only restriction is no turbine jets are allowed.... although I believe a turbine helicopter would be OK.

5. We will likely setup a row of tents along the south end of the field. It's easier parking and more room to spread out, but feel free to setup anywhere you like. There is a bit of shade in the area of the clubhouse, at the center of the field.

6. There is a awesome dirt track for racing radio controlled cars and trucks, immediately next to the flying field. If you want to run a car/truck on the track - feel free.

7. There is a local shooting range located about 1 mile due east of the flying field. 25, 50, 100 yards, outdoor range. Here's the link: http://atterburyshootingcomplex.com/ They also have Trap and Skeet houses that are reasonably priced and fun. If you want to bring a boom stick... feel free.

8. I'll plan to bring a cooler with soft drinks and water. There's not any source of food in the immediate area, but we could order some pizza and have it delivered. Otherwise, bring your own grub.

9. The flying field is located on the south end of what is known as Johnson County Park. It is a huge park with all sorts of things for the family and kids to enjoy, including a small scale train club. For a couple of bucks, you can ride the train for about four miles of track. There are formal "camping" sites located in the park area if you've got an RV and want to hook up for the weekend. I don't know the details of that - check out the weblink: http://jocoparks.com/johnson-county-park/

Here's a link to a youtube video that shows the flying field pretty well.

I can check into using Atturbury. We had two Internet Flyin events there about 12 years ago.

Plenty of room for camping. Restroom facilities, power.

Keep yer pants on guys. I'll see if I can get something setup in the next couple of days.

I'm not a super important elected officer Vice President in my club like Cappy is. I am, however, one of the 15 or so people in the club that flies regularly. There's about 70 members in the club total.

I'll send an email to the club officers today, and let them know that I'd like to "reserve" a (possibly Friday) and Saturday in the early spring (April ?) for a mini flying event.

Our club land is owned by the local county park, as I understand it. And as such, as long as you have AMA insurance, you can fly. However, the club does most of the upkeep, mowing the grass, keeping the runway in good shape, the club house, etc. So, it would only be right to let 'em know that a small number of well behaved gentlemen would like to utilize the facilities for a day of fellowship and flying. :tu:

Might as well set a rain date. Spring in Indiana, it's going to rain a lot.
