props for that range from 42-58" of pitch. let's use 48" pitch, as it's 4 feet of pitch.

continental o-200 is rated for between 2475-2750 rpm.

2750 rpm x 4 feet= 11,000 feet per minute. divided by 5280 feet per mile is 2.08 miles per hour.

gee, the cessna 150 is slow!

pateetong. just like i said.

Unfortunately WF your math is pateetong. The 2.08 is miles per minute which is 2.08 X 60 minutes equals 125 miles per hour which is reasonably close to what a 150 will do at 2750.

Also in a 150/152 your redline is 2500 rpm. With the low pitch "climb" prop your lucky to cruise at 90kts.

math error, for sure. but then, would that same engine/prop combo in a nemisis at the same rpm go the same speed as the 150? pitch x rpm says it would.

I use a calculator that calculates airplane wing area, weight , rpms, prop diameter an pitch as well as selectable prop coeffients for a lot of the common model props . Gives pitch speed , predicted airplane speed as well as the mph your prop will stop stalling etc etc

Interesting stuff
